Txiki Begiristain

It appears that Pep wanted everybody who was surplus, cleared out of the dressing room ASAP. All who remain, know who is charge if they did not know before. Tixki has obliged and cleared players out. Pep now has his squad. Fullbacks in future Windows may be reviewed and some who were reprieved this time round, may be on their way in 12 months.

Questions remain.
Who sanctioned the purchase of Mangala at that price?
Why did Bony, prolific at Swansea, fall short at City?
Why did Joe play immaculately - short balls - in his final game, yet in the friendly with Arsenal hit his first two balls long?

Joe didn't hit his first one long, the first pass he played was to Fernando in the right full back position.

What people tend to forget is that every single club in top flight football ends up buying players that, for many and varied reasons, simply do not work out. It is only because we pay top whack that our duds appear worse, when in reality it's all relative.

Plus, when you consider players such as Silva, Kompany, Zabba etc. that have more than repaid their initial fee, the mistakes will inevitably stand out against these successes.

No team gets them all right, but at least I know when we fuck up it's only a bump in the road rather than a total fucking car crash.

It's a totally different scenario. We have a new manager and have brought in 9 players. We got the players in first and then were left with players who weren't going to play and clubs knew we had no bargaining position as we needed to move the players on.

It will be different in subsequent windows. We will be able to dictate terms if clubs want our players. This time we weren't able to do that
You're right but blueinsa's and mcfc1632's principle still stands.

Been reading the same thing every window since Adebayor mate.

Just shows that a football model is far removed from a business model.
But football is the game were in and in our current circumstances the best outcomes we could have hoped for.
Well done Txiki.

At the end of the day the manager is still the most important factor when recruiting players. We missed out on the likes of Hazard and Sanchez, not because of Txiki, because I can guarantee we would have secured them if pep was our manager. We didn't sign the likes of Jesus and Gundogan because of Txiki, it was because of Pep. But then Txiki was the most important factor in signing pep... What does all this mean, who knows?!

I do think he's been pretty poor in getting deals for players we are selling though!

Whenever we sign a decent player it's the manager, when we can't get shut of the overpaid failures it's all txiki's fault!

I think he's great and we are very lucky to have him.

Who actually gives a shit about finances now?

It's not the FFP era anymore.

It's the era of £30m+ bids for Sissoko and Bolasie. £90m bids for a midfielder who scored 8 goals last season and £50m bids for Stones.

Premier League clubs now have so much money it is literally falling out of their arse holes.

So we didn't get a combined total of £40m for Bony, Nasri, Hart and Mangala. I really don't give a toss and I doubt the club do either since they were happy to spend £27m on a teenager that we won't even see until next year.

The most important thing to do was get out signings done, which we did, and to get rid of the undesirables by hook or by crook, which we did.

He's been very good overall but spending such a huge amount and receiving about £4m back is a bit of a pisstake.
