Txiki has a narrow Spanish view of the game and is in my view now a corporate 'suit' as I described him . No connection with the fans & operates in a remote closeted world .Sure he won trophies as a player 20 years ago so did Gary Neville should we have him as as our DoF.

It's a poor return the past 2 seasons when you see those spending tables, we're stuck with ageing players that needed replacing and building for the future. Seems not enough finished articles around the 25/26 yr old range.
Whilst we've been waiting for Pep to arrive and "building for the future" sh*te like Leicester and the rags are winning titles and FA cups, the future is now. Are we in transition? We should be a well oiled machine no matter what manager comes in. Real Madrid, Barca never seem to be in transition, we've spent enough to not be in transition, are Chelsea in transition? They have a new manager, finished 12th last season and spent less.
If Mangala, Bony had worked out this could have been so different. When you pay that type of money you expect the finished article, same with Sane, looks we bought him a year or 2 too early just so Bayern didn't get him. In hindsight that 37m would have been better spent on 2 fullbacks and kept Nasri instead.

Didn't Txiki have a similar role at Barca that he has here? Didn't he get the job here based on his record from that role at Barca and nothing to do with winning trophies 20 year ago?

I thought MP was on a downward curve from early on in his second year but did he have the cattle to make a real fist of a second title.
Personally I don't think so.
If it goes like I think it will for us this season those in charge of transfers will have to go because its been 5 years since we bought in top notch players in bulk.
Don't get me wrong Ferny and KDB have been good purchases and I hope the best is still is to come from KDB and Sterling should still have much upside but overall its been woeful.
