Txiki Begiristain

let's look at it another way. We purchased Mangala and Otamendi when we needed to strengthen the CB options of the team. Now I totally agree that both have flattered to deceive and although Otamendi is the better of the 2 he still for me is not the required level.

That said, both these players were high in demand and it was Txiki and our club that secured their signature. You can't ask for anything more than that from him, the club targetted these 2 players and against other clubs also trying to get them, we came out on top.

Unfortunately it sometimes doesn't work out, remember when we had Boateng but again he struggled and went back to Germany and became a solid player for them. He has made some bad ones like Fernando and Navas. But Navas looked class at the confedrations cup prior to him joining the club.

But we have signed Gabriel Jesus....the rising star of Brazilian football and one that has the ability to rival the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.

That's truly shocking. So if I'm reading it right, we've spent over £300 million in the last two years, yet we're still having to play Kolarov, sometimes as a centre back, and two 30+ full backs, and Fernando.

Someone at the club must be accountable for the fact we're already 9 points behind Chelsea, and royally fucked up last season? How can we spend £300 million and be worse than four years ago!??

For that money we could have had Sanchez, Hazard, Vertonghen, Bellerin and Danny Rose. We'd be 10 points clear by now. Fucking awful scouting and recruitment.

He's spent 320m in the last few windows and only KDB is anywhere near the finished article. The rest are either shite or potential.

Pretty much agree.
Though I'm happy with Sterling and Stones as well.

No idea about Gabriel Jesus, will he be the next Neymar, or Robinho mk2? The way our luck with transfers has gone recently he'll probably be on loan to Sampdoria in 2 years.

You have to know which players are more than likely to perform in England on a consistent basis at a high level.

We have got too many wrong over the past 5 years for it to be anything other than the wrong people scouting and a breakdown in what is required and how to get it.

Zaba , Silva, Kun , VK , Yaya are still players who we know have to be at the top of their game when available for us to challenge.

Not only is hopelessly unlikely now bit this is still the core of our leadership group.

High demand because they perform well for their clubs doesn't mean they will cut it for us or the premiership.

Of course we could.

Sssshhhhh.

Twitter has spoken and that is that!

Its actually hilarious seeing so many make a complete fool of themselves on this and other threads and i dont mean reasoned criticism either as that is fair.

Its the childish crap some come out with, especially when its so ill informed its untrue.

Suit pmsl

Held responsible for Mancini getting the chop and for some, thats burn him at the stake territory, again, regardless of how ill informed that opinion is.
This fucking forum at the minute.

What was Txiki meant to say at the draw "yeah we are after a centre back as Kompany is fucked and Otamendi doesn't know his arse from his elbow at the minute"

Agree...but you can't have a pop for going out and securing the players being identified by the club, in that respect he has done his job to the full. When that player fails to adapt and perform then I would rather question that player rather than the person who got his signature

As DOF he is in charge of player recruitment. The buck stops with him.

It's not just poor recruitment it's the age and dynamic of the squad.
