Txiki Begiristain

Watch your mouth mate . The Pep police won't have any criticism.
But I`m a Pep lover, but it pisses me off with his attitude at present that he won`t give the youngsters a chance. The odd game here and there an odd twenty minutes.Fuck me he`s getting as bad as MP.I`d be more than pissed off if I was Garcias and I saw two 30+ somethings playing in midfield. As much as I love Zabs and Yaya has been incredible since his return, every now and then they need to be rested.Fucking hell its not as if we were playing a big top notch club.

As much as I`m a Pep fan,you appear to be backing him in NOT giving youth a chance, apart from the odd game.We can`t carry on like this, otherwise we might as well have kept MP,another one who hated giving youth the chance. Its not harmed Spurs either, but you keep looking for excuses to justify Peps poor substitutions yesterday.
I just feel like it would be best to have a platform built before you integrate the youngsters. We didn't get Pep because he will play the u18s away at Everton, we got him because he is a serial winner and will be able take the club to the next level. We regressed with Pellegrini due to his ignorance to take the opponents in consideration when picking the team. Even though we has spent a lot during the summer, I feel like this is the transitional year where Pep and Txiki will look to identify replace the weak links, mainly the fullback. Seen that with the players we've been linked to.

Be careful mate, they won't have that talk round here - he's the footballing nirvana don't you know .

I agree with your thinking ref this being a transitional year and I don`t have a problem with that.So based on that assumption then surely now is the year to give more playing time for Garcia and rest Zabs and Yaya more often.Everyone you talk to is of the same opinion ref Maffeo,he should be getting playing time.I don`t always subscribe to the fact that shipping them out to other leagues will help their well being in the long term.If they are playing against inferior players its not testing them, its just giving them playing time.Be bold Pep MORE OFTEN is my cry.

I don't understand how Txiki planned this team years ago, knowing that Pep was to be the eventual manager. I can't imagine that any of his purchases were made on impulse, and as CFG has stated before, our scouts compile dossiers upon dossiers of information. Is it lazy scouting then? The evidence suggests that it isn't. But then surely even then there is threshold as to what makes a player an acceptable target. Fundamental attributes such as movement, intelligence, or technique should be the basic requirements for a team at our level.

By that virtue, Txiki has failed to complement the stalwarts of our club after previous managements of poor purchases of Maicon, Sinclair, Nastasic, Garcia, and Rodwell etc. Whilst De Bruyne, Gundogan, Fernandinho are obvious purchases that fit in the mold, others like Mangala, Fernando, Delph, Otamendi, Bony, are nowhere near passing that minimum threshold of basic fundamental attributes. Add on to this our aging or injured stalwarts in Zabaleta, Silva, Yaya, Aguero or Kompany who have been the backbone of this team for half a decade, players who are still here but shouldn't be in Kolarov, Clichy, and i include Zabaleta, and Yaya in here, it's no wonder this team is under performing. In other words. this team is a cluster fuck of players with contrasting playing styles trying to fit into Pep's game plan's.

But we haven't exactly been strugglers for a decade or so. Compare this team with the team that Michael Johnson walked into. And out of.
Leicester (15th, 16th?) are playing Chilwell. Lots of clubs are trying youngsters in the 1st team.
Although they've been successful at their level, I suppose it's possible that the reluctance is because they might be producing show ponies at the academy and want to hide it. But we'll never know until they get a run out in public.

Looking at it from the outside, the bang for buck on player dealings has been the worst aspect of the club and must be undermining the financial returns. At some point shouldn't the CEO be duty bound to step in? But what are friends for? The big problem is what to do next if it goes tits up on the pitch. He'd have to fire the Barca model and start again. Could he really do anything else? I think the refugees from Barca were very lucky indeed to have joined just when broadcasting revenues for the Prem took off and I wonder what the figures would look like if the broadcasting revenue had only increased by the average of the other big leagues.

And if it sounds like I don't trust him/them, you have to be cautious about anyone who makes or advises on big money deals. Before Mark Hughes went, the chairman's words were something along the lines of I wish he'd call me more often. I bet Txiki's good at that.

The crunch will come I believe if attendances seriously dip given our Season could be done in February. The lacklustre ,sideways mind numbing dross we are playing at times could cause a crowd reaction. A public display of anger could trigger big changes.

He will have to go if the trend continues next season.

This season looks like we will miss out on Chumps League , nothing wrong with that happens to all sides bar Arsenal who never win anything anyway bar the odd Cup these days.

Next season should see us start the climb back to the top and play much better football at the same time but he must get the massive clear out over the summer right and bring in hunger , physicality , pace strength and real leadership on the pitch other wise he is cactus.

In short much better quality than in the past few seasons which have been pathetic in nearly all aspects of what is needed at this level.

You just cannot keep making mistakes and expect not to be shown the door.
