Txiki Begiristain

Fernando wasn’t a bad signing either. He could have been a stalwart of our midfield for years had he not had to cover for Yaya on his own.

Not everyone is Fernandinho.

We have unearthed some real bargains since the takeover and before Txiki.
Zaba
Vincent
clichy
Yaya
David
Sergio
Navas?
Dinho

And some dross

Since Txiki we have had bargains.
Bernado
Jesus
Ederson
Z

But no dross.

It's only Grealish for £100 million that stands out and only on the price.

However we still need a left back and a real presence up front.
Gundogan for £20m is the biggest steal we’ve had since the takeover.

and most of the hits recently came post-FFP where the average cost of the signings has been about £60m. Great sporting directors find unpolished diamonds, Txiki has never done that - when working on a relatively moderate budget his recruitment was woeful.

If the league and/or Champions League aren’t won this season, it’s time for a reboot IMO, from the manager right up to Soriano.
What a shit post. Who do you support? Clearly not City

All those “why didn’t we buy a striker” knee jerks should read this from pep’s conference
this afternoon. Read it and take it in:

“He then nailed the central point of why City have been better than United - they have been working to a plan for years, with a football director and chief executive in harmony, plotting towards the moment when Guardiola would take charge. And even after the Catalan arrived, they are all on the same hymn sheet - players bought under Manuel Pellegrini have slotted effortlessly into Guardiola’s way of playing, in contrast to the haphazard, knee-jerk transfer policies that have seen the Reds lurch from one manager to another, and hence from one playing style to another.”

We. Play. The. Long. Game.

Fcuk me, are we bottom of the league ?

Txiki should have his own statue next to Vinny, he's a legend.
So is Harry Godwin. Over 30 years worth of service. Where shall we put his statue?

Unlike Txiki, Harry always had time to chat with fans about the club, prospective signings, progress of apprentices/trainees etc, and didn't get paid shitloads of cash.

Stop this statues nonsense. It's just people doing their jobs.
