Southgate should have the final say on who coaches England at all age groups.
Disagree there. would be even more of a jobs for mates situation. And whilst Southgate is trying to play the right way in most cases can you imagine if allardyce was still in charge? He would have the likes of Davies and Nolan in charge with the brief of finding the biggest strongest guys out there and have them on 4 hour long ball heading drills
I’m not sticking up for Boothroyd here, i instantly commented on how stupid his subs were at the time, it was plain for everyone to see but he was heard numerous times encouraging them to play through midfield and keep the ball when they could, he could also be heard telling foden to harvest his energy where he could as he was guilty of aimlessly chasing down balls on his own at times. He clearly isn’t a very good coach and made some shocking decisions but they are kids who were dead on their feet a man down trying to see out a game, it’s natural for some of them to lose their confidence on the ball
