U21s derby at Old Trafford on Tuesday

I'd like to know why people who think Kelechi is the only one who will make it, don't think Ambrose will, considering how much more problems he caused a stronger Chelsea team, than Kelechi did. Or Boadu perhaps ?

I'd wager it's because they have barely ever seen them, along with most of the others beibg written off.

Right let's try and simplify this. I visited Barcelona 6 years ago and spent a week at their training complex. I watched training, spoke to their coaches and began to understand how they turned out to be as good as they are.
One of the first things was to get all their teams playing the same way. Not worrying about results, not concerned if other teams bigger kids beat them. The only concern was doing things the Barca way. It took time and patience. The result of a long term plan. I'll repeat that A LONG TERM PLAN.
If you are concerned about the result then I suggest you shouldn't watch the youth teams. If you knew the half of what is happening at City you would go dizzy! Some people on here are beyond belief!

Barcelona don't play in England, so simply doing what they do won't work for us.

ha ha ha yes thats right, because geography means everything in football doesnt it!

Barcelona is a style of football, we can play any style, if we "develop" it. Your footballing knowledge is exceptional, carry on please.

tbh i agree with him in part, having a barcelona style is all well and good, but imo it should be adapted to suit the english game, you need to have some physical presence, but we have to combine that with this style we are trying. Last night all the nice passes were great, but we didn't get anywhere with it, it was easy for united to score against us. Thats a worry, because just like bayern, barca, and city now they've all forgotten how to defend, I dont see how this way of defending is going to help develop our back four, in an attacking sense yes, but not defending. I think we need to mix this barcelon style passing with an english style defense.

for anyone saying that united team were bigger than ours, they weren't a few of them were, but most like our players are the same age and same build.

Try and read posts before you pass stupid comments on them. I didn't say copy Barca's style of play at all, although I can't think of a good reason why you wouldn't use them as an example, I said find a style, use it throughout the club and then be patient. If that was hoof it to a big man it would be the same message.

He didnt say play the Barca way .but have the same style of through all the different teams

It would have been nice to get a result last night, or at least not get thumped 4-0, but which team experienced the greater learning opportunity? City, with plenty of the ball and having to engineer a route to goal, or united, who had little of the ball and relied on long balls to Wilson to run onto?

A slightly different argument regarding the levels of experience, who had more to learn from the experience?

Pablo Maffeo, playing centre half against some relatively experienced forwards, while still having plenty of the ball at his feet and having to initiate attacks?

Or Tyler Blackett, playing against players several years his junior having outgrown this level of football, but who still didn't take the opportunity to play out with the ball and improve some aspect of his play during the game? He would have gained absolutely nothing last night, other than another boost to the ego perhaps.

If Barca were in the premier league, do you think they would win it? Or if their B team were in the EDS league would they win it?

that is a completely irrelevant point, we aren't barcelona. Any team with messi, neymar ,suarez and iniesta would probably win the league, btw yea they might, whats your point ? . I think implementing their style is great, all I'm saying is defensively we dont look great and imo we should try and combine this style with an english style.

A very good way to look at it, I mean we could just buy the biggest fastest kids going and dominate this level of football if we wanted, but in 3-4 years those kids would be useless.

depends, look at someone like loftus cheek at chelsea he's exactly the type of kid your talking about, but technically he's very good. you could say the same for a lot of there kids, but they all look very good technically. I think its just more to do with the way they are trained and brought up.

No its not irrelevant. The B team dont have star players, but they do have the same philosophy throughout.
What exactly is an english style anyway? A losing style? A lump it style...if in doubt get it out, row Z football.
We are teaching the kids to play a possession based game, based on technical football, the"english style" is not where we are heading.
