U21s derby at Old Trafford on Tuesday

Feckin brilliant! Just come into work, and our pet plastic, is going on like, the tables have turned, and the mighty "ushited" are back again. "Two Derby wins now" I pointed out, when I'd mentioned in the past, about city youth beating the rags. I was called small time, how the feckin tables have turned hahaha. Getting all giddy about a youth win. Told him to get used to it, because they might be the only crumbs, they get from us for many years. Bitter twisted vermin, oh my ribs are killing hahaha.

Did anyone go to the game - by all accounts it was a bit ‘lively’ after the game, it even made it onto BBC news this morning with reports of arrests?
Some very graphic pictures in the papers today of the fighting in the ground.
FFS it was a youth game attended probably by many young kids with parents.

Bet most of those involved have never been to an EDS game before. United at fault here for lack of stewards, poor segregation and not having enough police there. Although to be honest they probably didn't think an EDS game was high risk!

A mere 4 years ago United were habitually winning the PL and qualifying for latter stages of CL. They had genuine cause to consider themselves an elite level club.
Now look at them.
Celebrating 4th place, counting no shows at the emptihad and playing effective but limited football to ensure some silverware at junior level.
How their expectations have dropped.
I dare say their EDS squad will throw up 2 or 3 players of the Wes Brown, Frazier Campbell and Kieron Richardson ilk but this way of playing really is doing their most talented kids no favours long term.

Pissing my sides at the media reaction today. A few kids (yeah they were literally school age) going at each other is hardly a mass outbreak of violence.

More worryingly for me is the stupid fucking Palace songs we are starting to sing

Right let's try and simplify this. I visited Barcelona 6 years ago and spent a week at their training complex. I watched training, spoke to their coaches and began to understand how they turned out to be as good as they are.
One of the first things was to get all their teams playing the same way. Not worrying about results, not concerned if other teams bigger kids beat them. The only concern was doing things the Barca way. It took time and patience. The result of a long term plan. I'll repeat that A LONG TERM PLAN.
If you are concerned about the result then I suggest you shouldn't watch the youth teams. If you knew the half of what is happening at City you would go dizzy! Some people on here are beyond belief!

and yet the lads you are decrying are 18 or less

keep up the good work

So three years of them getting fucked by their rivals but playing futile possession football is going to prepare them for the first team?
your slip is showing

i'm sure these young lads made it to the quarter finals of the UEFA Youth League, FA Youth final and won the International Cup

But yes, of course, you're right they're being fucked on a regular basis.
But if you think yoonited are our rivals then you are away with the fairies

At that level, United are our rivals as they've won the league. Ultimately Chelsea and United have beat us at youth level in a month, and have players who have already made/will soon have appearances for their first teams.

We could put a side out which would nullify that Utd team, & perhaps nick a 1-0, if that's all we were interested in doing.

So we lost by choice?
Elite Development Squad. There is a clue in the name.

The aim is to 'Develop' winners.

Kalechi looks on Sturridge's level to me.

dont agree with that, i dont think anyone of them are at the same level or micheal johnsons level. They are good, but i think we had a better quality players in those two especially

Exactly; Johnson was an immense footballer, it was only his physical/mental issues that destroyed him. In terms of ability, he'd fit seemlessly into our first team, even now; in his first full season he linked perfectly between Hamann and Elano.

Him and Sturridge were physically capable and technically superb; too much of our current emphasis is on technique, but in English football you need a blend of both and too many of our kids will fail to make it into the first team as a result.

United and Chelsea know this; they've been winning a lot longer in this league than us, and have tailored their youth ideology accordingly.
