Uber London loses licence to operate

Technology has moved on and taxi drivers don't need the knowledge, what punters want is a cheap, reliable safe service, in my experience only uber provides that.

They need a basic level of area knowledge which a lot do not possess.
Satellite navigation can be unpredictable and could end up taking the scenic route on a bad day.
Is it enough to say @SWP's back has the use of a calculator therefore no requirements for mental arithmetic.
In your own bubble it's working so carry on as you are pal..In London it clearly does not work.

To lose a license to operate you have to truly fook up in gargantuan proportions whilst offering an appalling service.
But then again everyone loves a good conspiracy theory so why not reinvigorate the notion that black cabbies have paid the council off : /
Mr Battle they are clearly inept at their jobs and the time for honouring themselves is now at an end.
Tata Landen uber..Your fired !

My local cabbie in has pretty much all of the same features. I can book a cab on an app and use a card to pay for it, track where the car is, see who the driver is etc. I can choose to pay by card in the cab if I want instead or just pay with cash. I downloaded the Uber app to see how it compared and there was far less taxis meaning longer waits and the fees were about £2-3 more on a £12 journey.
Excellent. Does he pick up and drop off in Doha and Cape Town?

I used to use an app called Hailo in Manchester and London when I needed a Taxi. It was like Uber but run by real taxi drivers. Is it still on the go?

Have been using Uber for 2 years in Liverpool. Love the fact that you can see where the taxis are close to you and booking one is simple and no phone call needed. You can see your taxi approaching on the map. Miles cheaper than black cabs, no tipping involved and no cash. Also 2 way feedback. It's years ahead of the traditional way of getting a taxi. I can understand why the London cabbies hate it.

London Cabbies - Salt of the Earth. Absolute institution.

Then along comes Uber, and crashes the party, and they get banned. Whatever happened to market forces?

Based on absolutely no evidence whatsoever I'd wager more punters have been ripped off by black cab drivers than Uber drivers.

All these experts who aren't arsed that sexual
assault and illegal working investigations have been hindered.

No doubt this has been driven 100% by the black cab drivers and association who want to protect their own interests and of course, will now push prices up as demand increases.

As ever the consumer loses out.

Protect their own interests lol. Lots of cabbies have been put out of work or are struggling through night shifts on £5 an hour
