Old news but it keeps cropping up and I just wanted to know if I have it right in my thoughts about it:

Sources at Der Spiegel claim to have seen a leaked email from 2015, in which City’s then-chief financial officer Jorge Chumillas informs club director Simon Pearce of ADUG’s contribution.

The email reportedly states: “Please note that out of those 67.5m pounds, 8m pounds should be funded directly by Etihad and 59.5 by ADUG [sic].”

My understanding is that this is incorrect, that ADUG were not mentioned at all in the emails, that this is where City say things have been taken out of context and misrepresented.

As an aside our deal with Etihad is worth £45m a season over 10 years and that remains unchanged but we can ask for extra one year and take less the next, to give us more wiggle room for transfers/FFP.

Has anyone heard or read anywhere that Barcalona are in danger of breaking FFP rules. I can not remember where I read it, that If they don't make at least £100m in player sales in January, they will be breaking FFP rules.

Thanks. Thought as much and His Highness could be a number of people who are connected to Etihad, where of course Sheikh Mansour is not.

If I remember rightly, according to forum members who do or have lived or worked over in AD, 'His Highness' relates to the Emir only, a mistake someone like Simon Pearce would not apparently make.

Although my question isn't directly about the UEFA investigation I think this is the most suitable active thread for it.

Pep has said several times recently that we can't afford to buy any new players and seemingly yesterday he actually said we have 'no money' to buy anyone in January. After two relatively modest net spends last summer and this one I was under the impression that we could go big again if we wanted / needed to. Obviously it's not all about net spend but I would have thought player amortisation & wages were not a huge constraint so what is the current position regarding our finances for incomings?

I agree there is an element of tactics for public consumption but my question is more about what people think about what we can or cannot do in the transfer market.

I think we have been very careful in the last windows but for what reason? FFP constraints or building up a huge war chest?

That might just be so that clubs we want to buy from don’t think we have a load of money to spend so start their negotiations £15m higher than they should for the player we want.
