He is independent, an accountant and universally respected for his summaries of football finances.

Back in the early days of FFP when we were subject to rival outrage about our spending he published a great and detailed article highlighting how plausible our financial plan could be to not fall foul of the regulations. He was the one independent I can recall who did that.

Every big-financial brain on here has the utmost of respect for him.

And personally I like graphs like the one below which puts the Etihad deal into perspective. The "related" and non-related" aspects have been detailed on here many times by the likes of PB but appreciate this is complex stuff for many.

.

He’s done some very good work here

I know but the Adjudicatory Chamber (AC) must have assessed it and then dismissed it. They can not be dismissed in the same way as the Investigatory Chamber. Soriano noticeably criticised the work of the Investigatory Chamber but I struggle to see how the AC ignored City's evidence. There was a hearing I believe too.

CAS will review the process as well as the evidence which give City two lines of attack however.

The initial CAS report gives City some encouragement but it still makes me very nervous when in the face of evidence so called financial experts are still almost 100% opposed to City. Look at the way David Conn responded to PB's piece of evidence. He just changed his line of attack. This is political and not a technical dispute. It does not matter what the evidence says, the liberal intelligentsia want to find City guilty because they are Emirati. I think it is as simple as that.

Whether City are lucky enough to find 3 judges who have some integrity we shall have to wait and see. Because it's political, we should be worried. There's nothing we can do about that.
THe CAS judges will be impartial and if there is the slightest doubt from City's side they are not we will go to the Swiss courts.

I rather think UEFA leaked that to Sam Lee in good faith on the basis that they were going to offer to find City guilty on a technicality and levy a small fine and no ban. The fact that City apparently told UEFA where to shove their offer led to their about turn and a ridiculously swingeing punishment and Lee ended up with egg on his face.
More controversial is the theory Uefa leaked the info about a nominal punishment and no ban in the hope we’d accept guilt (again) and then they could inflict a stronger ban ?
I mean what are we gonna say, but you promised no ban if we plead guilty ?

we are heading into conspiracy country but why the heck not ;-) lol

The line of thinking that the highest sport arbitration panel, above UEFA, FIFA or any other sporting body, is not going to be impartial, and when City get to pick one of the 3 to look at the case, takes you off down a rabbithole there's no escape from.

Just a though and might have been stated before in the previous 2183 pages but we had 3 major investors in the recent past, the Chinese, the American Investment Co. and Puma,. Does any one think that having presumably gone through our accounts with the fine tooth comb they would invest in ADUG, if there was the slightest chance that we were going to be sanctioned.
No and that is reassuring

I don't know about that,is anyone really impartial when money and power are in play, they choose one,we choose one and we are relying on the third chosen by CAS which is out of our hands

No, as stated on the Sunday Supplement, UEFA may well be CAS' biggest client. On the flip side, the buck needs to stop somewhere and that location is probably better than some dubious footballing body.

That's assuming the ones we and UEFA choose side with the 2 sides. As they are from a list of CAS members there is no reason to assume all 3 won't follow the evidence and vote the same way, whatever way that turns out to be.

yeah it's all we have for now,so hope they really are unaffected by the corruption

Sorry but if CAS throw out are case we are in serious trouble, not that I think they will.

IF CAS do reject us , then we will go to the Swiss courts.

My understanding is it is not automatic the Swiss courts will hear it,it is not routinely allowed, might be wrong though

Doesn’t do us much good if the other 2 judges are cunnts, 1 will be for sure. It will all depend upon the third

I'm confident projectriver will be delighted to add "day tripper" to his bio.

The author is a more than 20 year English qualified lawyer, current public company Chief Executive Officer, former General Counsel, former financial adviser to the Board of Manchester City and an experienced litigator including in matters of complex accounting. And day tripper.

Not remotely interested in his bio.

Has no relevance to me using the term day tripper.
