i've never heard a player named and singled out for doing something wrong on the main news. They normally say collectively england defended poorly.

With an overwhelming win, the bbc still found a way of picking out a city player at fault.

I think it's City that got me out of international football. Italia90, euro 96 during these tournaments I was fanatical supporting in ger land, but back then I genuinely believed that I would live my entire life not seeing City win a trophy of any kind and England was my only hope. Now, I'm more gutted Belgium got knocked out as I had them in the sweep at work, if it had ended up an England / Belgium final I'd have wanted a Belgium win

I’m a City fan and, unlike the Red Scouse, I am also patriotic and want to see England win every game for the good of the nation. In reality, I don’t give a flying fuck who plays well, or scores for us, as long as we make an effort to cheer the country up and bring it together. Nothing better than having a positive conversation about football rather than a partisan view.

I’m someone who considers myself British over English yet I’m still a big England fan. None of these players are City or United or Liverpool or any other club’s players; they play for their country and they don’t give a shit about their teammates or clubs or club’s fans when they play for their country.

Decades of Utd and Liverpool players been praised and hyped up to the rafters - only to do nothing in tournaments ruined any serious interest I had for international football. Only care now if City players are in various teams.

I don't change allegiance but I'm not a kiss the badge England fan. I see fans going crazy on tv over England goals and don't get it.

Prefer club football. City always first for me.

Many of those fans support shit teams it’s their only chance of seeing and supporting a good team.

I look at completely differently. I thought neither England or city would win anything but I dreamed both would. Now city have done it (and then some!) I want England to complete the set (before I hit 50 next year please!)
