I wanted to start a new thread on this but i don't seem to have permission..

Do you think we still have an inferiority complex compared to the rags and if so when do you think it'll end?

The reason I ask is that is that I regularly see comments (and I too am guilty of this) comparing us to the rags. We finish 3rd in the league or say QF of CL and instead of comments about how far we've come or that we should be aiming to win it, it's not unusual to see comments such as "well at least we finished above the rags" or "they weren't even in the CL".

How long before we really, genuinely don't care and just focus on our own selves? How long before success is measured against say real madrid rather than a team that finished 6th? We've been a big team now for a fair few years now.

Don't compare us to United, my thing is yes I'm disappointed in not challenging for the league and not winning a cup this year but and I'm afraid it's school ground stuff I love finishing above them as I know they hate it
Got a lot a Rag mates and its everyday banter and I was seriously shitting myself at not finishing above them this year as I'd have found it unbearable

Well i may be old school but coming from Manchester the only team i hate and want to beat and be above is the rags, so i do care in that sense always want them to loose and fuck things up anything so i can laugh at them, as they have done to us for many years, it's all about banter and taking the piss out of each other, and long may our current position of being above them continue. i have always wondered what it would be like to be a one team AREA ( was going to say city but we know the answer to that ) like leeds or newcastle, much prefur it this way.
Regardless of how many clubs a city may have, each club has it's own mortal rival. Just go and ask any Leeds fans how they feel about Huddersfield getting promotion despite them being separate towns 10 miles apart. They're devastated.

My dislike of the rags only really turned to an all-consuming hatred when the Pisscan turned up. Before then I was fairly indifferent to them. Then that cnut came along and turned the rivalry on its head with his anti-City vitriol and his venomous attacks on us all the time. I could go on and on about the obnoxious players he's had (Keane, Van-Nistleroy, Beckscum, Scholes etc etc), or his belligerent and confrontational nature when anyone not connected to the rags dares to speak to him. I could go on about the cheating, the diving, the kicking of opponents. I could mention all the fucking millions and millions of pounds the Govan despot had to spend and all the fallow years it took him before a bit of success (eventually) came his way. I remember the 'Fergie Out' banners and the abuse he got from the plastics before the Premier League came along and saved his bacon (pun intended).

But all I'll say is, one day it will be jelly and ice cream...and I shall fucking gorge myself to a cardiac arrest.

how i remember it the bitterness he spouted and the armchairs lapped it up and still do cause it's imprinted on todays media

A shame really, purely because he's massively overrated in my opinion.

It would have been funny if United had spunked £60m on him.
Nah, not having that, he's a fantastic player and creates chances from nothing every time he gets the ball, delighted they didn't get him.

I'm 25 and we've finished above United 5 times in my lifetime.

If we finish above them another 4 years in a row then we'll probably stop remarking on it, but you've got to admit it's still a fairly new thing.
You baby I'm 32 and I've seen it 6 times :)

The only thing they've got on us now is massive fake t-shirt sales in Malaysia and the staunch support of FA and media bellends. Still I will always loathe them. SCUM!

funny how united see liverpool as there main rivals but that counter banner was about manchester city and now they are at it again with this time about liverpool not winning the premier league do they now see us as there main rival with attack on liverpool being a easy target
