United (A) Post Match Thread

I would have played Foden and Torres and had aguero on bench to come non

Why play him mid week and not today ?

bernado ??

United had fuck all to worry about today .

played for a draw and for one. Falling further behind

only one team wanted to win and sadly they never played in blue.
he played aguero in a nothing match, bernado what ? hes been shit for ages, as for only one team wanting to win, a consistently shit post, well done.

Also.. people are forgetting not only did we get an away point in the derby but we kept Ollie in a job.

Today really wasn’t a bad day.. not a great day grated but certainly not bad.
Who cares in Ollie stays in a job, It's what we do that matters and lets me honest i dont think we are in any position to mock these cunts..Let's get our own house in order first.

Very low intensity match from both teams, we will play better and lose. Have to take an away point but we will come back even better.

Why? We are going backwards at an alarming rate. Two years ago we were going to the swamp expecting to score 3/4. Now it seems Pep is frightened of losing. From two seasons of 90 plus points we look like we would struggle to get 80. We never looked like a team unable to score a goal, we now seem to struggle against any decent team
I hear you on the problems we are having.

It is concerning, absolutely, but we’re also going through a transition from our aging players in Dinho, Aguero and now Silva who is gone.

Signs were there with the same problems in midfield as Dinho played more as a centre half and when Aguero was out during last season and it’s more of a progression of the problems that to me is more of a personel issue.

You could say signing Rodri was a mistake but NOT ONE SINGLE OBSERVEER HAD ANY LOUD DOUBTS ABOUT HIS POTENTIAL TO BE THE NEXT BUSQUETS.

Pep had Busquets and saw what he could do. However, he also had Xavi and Iniesta and football has changed a bit. We have KDB, but we no longer have Silva, and our style of football I do sense may require a box-to-box no 6.

Now, thing is Pep might also understandably think AS DID MANY OF OUR FANS that if we just get better defenders that won’t be an issue.

Well, that we do now or have had players come back to form who had been strong and our defending is generally MUCH better, but now we can’t find the creative force that drove the team without more of a creative driving link outside of KDB.

Bernardo has also fallen off a cliff, and was one of our best players. Is that Pep’s fault? If we had old Bernardo we’d be SO much better.

Foden might be it and has IT but what appears to be the issue is central midfield which some had concerns over but I don’t think was rated the highest priority for transfers.

When Pep first arrived we were a mess and he tried open attacking football and was obliterated in some games on the counter.

Now he clearly tries to be more careful against sides like Utd and Liverpool who we KNOW are dangerous there and I think looks mostly for damage control and to sneak out a 1-0 win but better to be 0-0 than lose, especially away.

The season is long and most sides we will attack more. I just think he is trying to learn from his past mistakes while also aware there are changes that need to be made in the squad that will be addressed this summer.

Pep is a football genius. He makes mistakes but so does everyone. I am far from worried we are doomed with him at the helm than almost any other manager, because whilst stubborn, he also is an astute observer and has adapted when he finally realises a change is needed.

Psychologically for the fans I know it’s frustrating, but before the game Pep was downplaying the importance of deby’s in ANY COUNTRY and I don’t think that was a coincidence.

Fairly obvious Pep has changed his ethos this year to play more solid. I don’t really mind that to be honest but he’s playing the wrong people at the front. Not playing Foden today was a really odd decision.

ok. We should have dropped a midfield anchor and thrown caution into the wind and pushed full on the with a high press against a side playing at home with an extra man in midfield that is renowned for having one saving grace. The counter attack?

would rather be cowardly than an imbecile.
Everyone scores against utd, so why should we become shithouses and become too scared to attack them. It was cowardly tactics from Pep nothing more nothing less.

We have improved hugely at the back though Ederson for me is a concern as seems to have a cock up per game in him but the same issues in midfield and up front have been there for years now with no improvement.
Rodri is just not suited to the PL. We have zero pace there and teams with inferior technically players but who have energy just seem to walk past our midfield. Going forward the midfield offers nothing and we have players who are horribly out of form and just not clinical enough up front. Finishing has been an issue for years, strangely even after we scored over 100 goals a season, we still missed sitters no other team seem to miss. Last season was horrific and this even worse.
in a tight game there is no one in the team you would hope the big chance falls to as none are clinical. Our missed penalties sums it up, is it mental weakness or are the players not at the top level required.
The other issue we have not addressed is our woeful set pieces. Teams not playing well ie Dippers can win a game on a set piece yet wether it’s a throw in, free kick or corner I would say we are the worst in the entire football pyramid at them, and given how technically good our players are, it’s just shocking how we don’t take more advantage as often we can rack up double figures in corners alone per game. Foden took some nice corners in mid week but he has to be on the pitch to do so.
next game, West Bron, we should win, but again I bet it’s the usual 70% possession, 16 shots but woeful finishing with 5 on target, 10 corners and the game tighter than it should be.
