United (A) | Post Match Thread

But we were in control of the game after Grealish scored. We were passing it around with confidence and limiting United in midfield. The first half was even, United maybe just edged it, but we were much the better team after half-time. After the goal, we were set up to deal with United chasing the game and I fully believe we would have seen it out - maybe even nicked another on the break. We did everything we were supposed to do today but VAR decided to punish our players for correctly holding the offside line. At that moment everything changed. We were screwed out of it.
That's not quite how I recall it. After we scored and before they equalized was a period where they suddenly started getting possession and we were no longer in control. While we were obviously screwed on the goal itself (and might have held on otherwise, as you say), we were no longer in control at that point of the game, and certainly not replicating the pressure we were creating at the start of the first half.

That’s totally condescending. Surprised you didn’t throw in York away. If you think that expectations don’t rise having experienced all the bad times you are deluded. Whilst we shouldn’t lose sight of where we have come from, you can’t now suppress expectations. Given that a lot of our current and future fans will be the ‘mardarses’ you allude to.
We've never had it so good. I'm happy, you focus your energy on "expectations" or as I call it "entitlement"

This isnt a situation that has happened over night, our football has become increasingly boring and predictable over a period of some time.

Officiating could have been very different today, but ultimately we were shite......and that was the issue, despite your need to find an excuse.

so,how long do we leave it in your blue blinkered world?
Thought we were OK today particularly in the second half. But the WC seems to have derailed the seasons of both Debruyne and Haaland. Not sure there will be any joy this may.

Rashford was interfering with play, he made sure he was in the way of the ball until the last second (ie he could of stopped), also he made a leg movement that could of been interpreted by the goalkeeper has if Rashford was going to shoot (that is interfering with play). Very lucky how the referee interpreted that goal.

Gutted we didn't win that game. The offside decision hurts. Apart from the 4-1 and the 6-3 against the rags we have not looked like the normal City I know and love. Not sure if it's due to Pep's new tactics wanting us to have more control or not. All I can see is us playing what looks like passing the ball endlessly with no final ball in the final 3rd of the pitch resulting in hardly any chances created. We seem to have given up our style of play to try and gain more control which seems to be stiffling our normal game. Haarland is a spare part at the moment and it's not his fault. Players are not passing the ball to him in case they lose possession, which is all well and good bit if it leads to no chances being created then no goals Will be scored. Maybe some of the players can see what is happening and are not happy with what is going on, hence they appear uninterested or even pissed off. Don't know what rhe answer is but if it not sorted soon we will slip down the league table pretty bloody quickly. Especially with the games we have coming up. Spurs must be rubbing their hands together with glee think of how many they could score on Thurs night.

We were not good enough, we can whinge all we like over "decisions"

We did less than nothing with the ba.half the time when we had it, and mis placing passes all over the place.

Something needs to be put right.

stay strong blues.

Other than the goal we didnt have any shots on target and we couldn't find Haaland with a Sat Nav.Our passing was sideways and our play lethargic, there was zero creativity or excitement.

Yes its a fucked up season....but it is for every one.

Whatever the rule is and it's interpretation that goal shouldn't be allowed. The flag going up and the fact he makes a run and gets within a whisker of it means the defence are affected greatly.

The space we left for both goals was shocking though. How long do we have to watch well organised teams defend then use the acres of space we leave behind to hurt us.

Pressing high and keeping possession is one thing but at some point you will lose possession.
