Spoke to lots of fans from various clubs and everyone is unanimous we got shafted, while the giddies are laughing, hardly believing their luck

This. The opinion of former players (for either club, incidentally) is worthless. Virtually all neutrals agree we got well and truly shafted. Some may be enjoying it, but they agree on it.

Even folk who ain’t got much interest in the game can see it was a very poor decision but hey it’s fooking United so no doubt it will be swept under the carpet

It is what it is, but I’m still convinced that a back two of Stones and Dias would have simply calmed that game down after the goal and — cynically if necessary — played the game out for the three points. I’m not even necessarily saying that they’re better footballers than the other three. But in the leadership stakes, and general influence over the whole team, they are gravy of a different consistency entirely.
By God but I miss that partnership!

Rashford ran to the ball and our players slowed down thinking ‘he’s offside’ so he clearly got involved in the play.

But United were building up to a goal anyway. All we were doing was giving the ball away so they’d still have scored and probably won. We were a shambles after our goal.
Bollocks

A bit of perspective for people....we aren't even half way through the season yet.

I am looking forward to Rico and Alvarez in part deux.

I agree, but we’re now leaking goals on a regular basis, and it’s becoming worrying. We were in winning positions against Everton (who are dire, and who are losing to everyone), and United (who are being made to look much better than they really are). We chucked away five points in those matches. We were cruising to take a point at Anfield. It’s worrying.
I actually have little doubt that we’ll play better later in the season. The question is how much later.

(I say nothing about the Brentford and Southampton defeats. They were entirely merited victories by the opposition. As were the draws against Villa and Newcastle).

I'll try and break it down for the people who believe he was onside,

1) the ball was played to Rashford.
2) Akanji plays him offside.
3)Rashford runs with the ball within playing distance
4) Rashfords team mate shouts "Leave it"
5) he leaves it.

1) & 2) he's active when the ball is played to him and impacts on Akanjis decision making : Interfering with play.

3) He runs with the ball in playing distance because of this he impacts on the decision making of Ederson and the defenders: Interfering with play.

4) & 5) He gets the Instruction, Leave it, he is then part of the move, Active!! : Interfering with play.

The officials the pundits the Rags and any one who thinks it's not offside need to find another hobby and don't give me this Grey area shit It's a really bad decision.

We have a huge schedule and are way off, so many players under performing, this is a little deeper for me than a bad run of form.

Whatever the reason, the next 3 months will see just how good Pep is, this is going to need the work of a genius to turn around, in his time with us I have never seen so many players look so out of form and unmotivated.

I told myself that I was not going to have an opinion after that stupid first goal, but I don't think it influenced the outcome of the game. It has been subpar for the last few games now.

I’m puzzled that there’s even a discussion, except by those in arrant bad faith.
The behaviour of the two defenders and Ed is clearly influenced by what Rashford is doing.
He is interfering!

That said, we’re not playing well, and haven’t been for quite some time. It’s another discussion.

I agree we are not playing well mate but this kind of thing has to stop it happens not just to us bent as F

Would rather we had gone gung ho
Very easy to say that with hindsight but if I recall some of our matches against Manyoo and even Liverpool where we went gung-ho, we were torn apart by quick transitions.

The better strategy would have been to manage the game better after going one up. Maybe midfield could have been reinforced by sacrificing Haaland and then after few minutes we bring in another midfielder or defender to keep an eye on Rashford but sincerely we did a lot of things right up till the point we scored.

Agree mate

Although not at our best a SCANDALOUS descision has done for us they dont get the 2nd without that.We miss Stones and Dias bigtime. We also need to start crossing the ball to the big man as the intricate passing is not working.Something is missing at the moment hopefully Pep has the answers.

Unpopular opinion
Most of our team is too old

I'd qualify that and say most of our best players are getting too old. In previous iterations of the team the ageing players like David Silva, Yaya were being augmented and, ultimately, replaced by the next generation like KDB, Gundo and Bernardo, Fernandinho by Rodri. The notable exception was Sergio.

I'm not convinced that Foden, Grealish, Palmer and Phillips are remotely capable of filling the boots of our previous generations. And that's before we start on the defence.

That said, a few tweaks here and there and they'd look better than they do now.

Tbf even a few of my united mates have said they’re embarrassed by it.

I’m even more behind the lads after yesterday.

If that wasn’t proof finally that most weeks we are playing against far more than 11 players on a pitch I will never know what is?

To have had the success we have had over the years against the bias and cheating we have already faced is a miracle.

Make no mistake, it ain’t going away anytime soon either.
