United (A) | Post Match Thread

Bernardo been amazing since we signed him, has dip in form for few months while also entire squad and system has been wank and you think we should sell him ?

Okey dokey
My favourite player, but has changed so much over the past 4 months.

El Mago never needed a 'moment of brilliance' to affect a game, he was always there, simplicity, control, accuracy he knew when to slow the game, he made his team mates better.

Pep needs to be brave and pick the right midfield.

I posted this seconds before they scored (on my stream) in the match thread:

I felt it at the time, it was infuriating me, we just kept giving it away constantly.
I don’t disagree that we were giving away the ball far too much throughout the match.

But disagree about how we were playing overall between our opening goal and theirs.

We had begun to take control in my opinion.

Up steps the officials.

By "stale" do you mean second in the league with more goals scored than anyone else, a better goal difference than anyone else etc.
We are second in the league because other teams were more shit than us. United is catching up and given our record against spurs by midweek United would have surpassed us on table

Clubs with a fraction the talent we have fight for goals and show heart and grit when facing adversity at the end of games. This team lacks that quality.

Rashford didn't touch the ball whilst clearly offsides but if hovering over a ball for a matter of meters still feels like possession to me and clearly impacted the play. It was the wrong call and it sure seemed to take very little time for the powers that be to grant the goal.

Still... when you concede, you have to answer instead of blaming the call.

Haaland is a double edge... He is such a threat to score but he also completely takes away the element of creativity and artistry this team has become over the last several years. It just isn't Pep football and the team are struggling to figure it out. Pep either needs to innovate a way to incorporate Haaland in a manner where he is effective vs. better teams who have planned for and are set up to absorb his threat. The absolute lack of service to him has been shocking.
IDK. We're going to need obvious help around us to overcome this lack of form and that's assuming we do 'figure it out.' I feel like our midfield has wilted, aged and gone off the boil and we've no new additions in that department who are able to breathe life into it and at the same time revitalize the parts that are not clicking.
KDB is sorely off any form that is able to help us and for all his genius ability he's just chucking balls in hoping for magic and losing possession in the process.

I'll stay for the fight as any real supporter would - I love this club but cannot help but feel that we're losing the plot and it will take a paradigm shift to find it. We can't blame cup rust as other teams are in the same boat. Pep to me has had a body language and his vocalizations have just been less assertive than in seasons past like he's capitulating. There's clearly tension in the locker room and it's almost like he's riding it out instead of getting ahead of and addressing it.
Still feel that simple lack of a hard arse leader on the field is what is letting these lost leads happen.
C'mon City... please?

Just seen the rags first goal

FUCKING HELL is worst than I thought Rashford follows the ball for yards clearly inferring with play. It has to be off side. Most players would have stood still knowing they are off side.

Clearly BENT.

Perhaps we have seen the best of football now and its turning into WWF. I will seriously have to think if I come up for a match now. It's a lot of money and we dont see a fair game.

LFC v wolves last week now this.

Love City hate football

He's openly said he wants to leave ! Barca won't stump up what we want for him though.

He wanted to leave in the summer but everyone on here wanted him to stay

What’s your point ?

He’s one of our best players who usually is one of our best performers in big games so I don’t want us to sell him

Did you see the Salah one last week? The defender literally tried to clear it to stop the ball reaching Salah and, in doing so, played him onside. The rule is a complete joke in the way it's written and interpreted, but you can't blame the ref for that

Oh, I'm in total agreement the rule is a joke and needs changing, especially with the way it judges defenders touching the ball. But the law says:
  • making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball
He was in the way of Akanji tracking back, he made Walker change the trajectory of his run to cut him off, he made Ederson come out of his goal square. What more does he have to do to be interpreted as interfering in play? Does he have to knock a few defenders out and spit in Ederson's face before he starts 'impacting the ability of an opponent to play the ball'?

We should of had a penalty and at the other end that bent fcuker on var Oliver be telling the referee that’s a penalty! Oliver is one sneaker cheating fcuker can’t stand him! He loves giving soft pens to the rags but we can be decapitated in the opposing box and say play on!

Hes ran on to the ball and hovered over it. He is directly influencing the behaviour of the defenders and the keeper. He is offside.
A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by:

interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or

interfering with an opponent by:
preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or
challenging an opponent for the ball or
clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or
making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball

That's the actual law. He did none of those.

Not quite sure what i've just watched, we know its bent but not that fuckin bent

As for the performance - i thought we were in total control of the game the second half, much better

Bruno MOM? incredible

true to form, unless I missed it, there was no mention of Casemiro foul on Haaland in the penalty area

Casemiro nowhere near the ball impeded Haaland in the act of shooting. Anywhere else on the pitch that is a foul.

Surely that could have been seen on VAR

Blatant cheating, they aren't even trying to hide it
