United Airlines - Passenger removal

They said they asked for volunteers and we're gonna pay for the inconvenience. Nobody volunteers so they said they drew a seat randomly. Did they get lucky in that it was an Asian man that had to leave the plane? What if it was a black woman or an Arab or a senior citizen? Did they single this guy out cause he looked like he would be the easiest mark? Loads of questions, but it could've been handled better in my opinion.

Once you have been allowed on board it is not unreasonable to expect to fly.
This was the airlines fault. They should have known the seats were needed and sorted out volunteers before allowing passengers on.
Too many people willing to give up their rights these days.....
It's sheep we're up against...
Once you've bought a bloody ticket it's not unreasonable to expect to fly. Absolute piss takers. Also, which incompetent twat let them on the bloody plane if they didn't have space? That's before the ridiculous, heavy handed dragging off the plane and absolutely farcical press statements. Just a complete fuck up all round from a industry that has been taking liberties for years.

The airline can refuse to carry anyone they please. This is fact. The other 3 volunteers got $800 and a night in a hotel. When no one else volunteered they chose a passenger. It was him. He now was no longer being asked to volunteer he was being asked to get of the aircraft. He made such a scene that the cops were called.

All his own doing I'm afraid.
I once made £1000 by volunteering to be offloaded from 3 consecutive flights. A very pleasant afternoon that was, with no injuries.

Yes, the airline can refuse ANYONE to BOARD, but you can't just fucking kick people off when they haven't done anything wrong. I fly alot domestically in the US, and i have never seen such thing. All the overbooking stuff is handled before you allow your passengers to board, and unless you fucking drunk or a criminal, i am yet to see anybody being kicked off, or being asked to leave after the plane after it was boarded.

The fact it was a sunday flight, and the next available flight was on monday at 2-3pm, is no wonder they didnt get enough volunteers for $800 flying voucher, they could have gone upto $1350 flying voucher, and maybe they would have avoided all this in the first place. It's clearly that shity united fucked and there so no other way about it.

The thread can end here!

Flew back to Manchester last year for the derby, Borussia and Bournemouth games. The passport officer asked the purpose of my visit, I told him I'd come to watch City beat the shit out of United, the officer in the next booth over burst out laughing, while the one I was talking to informed me I'd wasted my bloody time, that it was just a bunch of yobbos kicking an old leather bag around...Next! Get outta here

Brilliant haha, as you allude to also, a laugh and common sense is not something that should be seen as lax security procedure. That comment with how you looked will have given a good view of who you are to the lads on control resulting in 'let the poor exiled manc back in for a bit, at least he doesn't support utd' :-D

Funny you say that @aguero93:20 one guy at Chicago airport was listening to headphones and kind of mouthing the beat like 'baaba baa baa' sat just past security waiting for the rest of his family. He was saying it so fast it kinda sounded like 'bomb' and indeed a man walked over and spoke to him, lad never mouthed another beat, in fact he took his headphones off. I may have got it wrong but from where i was stood he had been told to make different noises that do not sound like the word 'bomb'.

Just seen the guy had a bloodied up face, got to give him his dues, he really wanted to make that flight. I don't mind saying i would have gone without a fight, mainly due to the fact i have 0 chance of attaining my goal of being on that flight should i struggle and they have guns and little restraint.

The TSA and HS types almost have carte blanche as they just need to say 'it is for security, terrorists, 9/11' type stuff and everyone backs down.

I think the biggest problem with airlines and airport people is there complete lack of empathy. Because dealing with their own fuck ups is something they constantly do every single day, they don't see it as a big deal or seem to give a shit about how inconvenient and distressing it is for the passengers. I can only imagine how annoyed I'd be if they did this to me, I don't even handle it well when they lose my luggage for a couple of days

Should have found the Islamic call to prayer on YouTube, turned it up full whack and sang along.
