United Airlines - Passenger removal

They said they asked for volunteers and we're gonna pay for the inconvenience. Nobody volunteers so they said they drew a seat randomly. Did they get lucky in that it was an Asian man that had to leave the plane? What if it was a black woman or an Arab or a senior citizen? Did they single this guy out cause he looked like he would be the easiest mark? Loads of questions, but it could've been handled better in my opinion.
Ah the old random winner at the north Stand routine.

Imagine a pregnant woman or a child being the lucky winner.

If the airline has let passengers onto the plane rather than sorting it out in the terminal they should have fallen on their sword and made other arrangements for the staff.

The airline can refuse anyone they please. Flights are frequently overbooked. The guy was a tit.
His head hit the armrest opposite as security had to drag him out of his seat. If he had complied with the request he would have been on the next flight unharmed with a few dollars in his pocket.

I have been on overbooked flights and been asked if I wanted to go the day after and be put up in a hotel, plus food coupons for the airport, this has happened 3 times in 16 years and every time it's been at or before check in as they were aware it was overbooled.

this smacks.of the airline wanted to courier their staff after the fact

If you have checked in and in your seat then unless the planes broken down, urgently needed by the government or hijacked you shouldn't have to give up your seat that they have confirmed you can have by seating you.

The airline were useless cunts in this instance and deserve a slagging off.

Expect to see competitors capitalise fully on this... XD

Why can't the 4 crew get on the next flight? I mean passengers have planned their itineraries and people waiting them at home and all. Despite airlines having the right to refuse passengers to be on the plane, cannot they be humanistic and treat individuals beyond the passengers they are?

What if he is a first time flyer? What if there were first time flyers around?

What if his daughter is expected him?

What if he had a miserable day or week and just can't wait to get home? Not everyone would want to trade money for just winding the day and hoping to get home.

What if he has psychological issues? Or is prone to develop one?

It's horrible how that person was dehumanised to just a passenger, or a seat number in a hat. That person had a story and not once was he allowed to be heard.

I bet they wouldn't have done it to a military person in uniform

A terrible terrible post, I hope you come back on and apologise or just leave Bluemoon altogether as all your credibility as a pilot and more importantly a human being has just been trashed.
I'm absolutely disgusted that you can think that way...
Over to you

So you turn up to the next city match and they drag you out because some corporate wants your seat, wtf are you on? If that's how your industry is run it's a bloody disgrace, the man paid for a service, did absolutely nothing wrong yet was assaulted because of piss poor planning by the airline. Why should he get on the next plane, maybe the crew should have got on it, if it was no big deal, you've seriously gone down in my estimations.
