United Airlines - Passenger removal

I reckon the captain should have brought out a handgun, shot the last 4 passengers to board, and dragged their assess off the plane after going through their pockets for valuables.

...might have got less media coverage than what really happened tho

He needs to get some good legal advice that lad. Bricking their office windows and torching all their planes is probably the best way to go forward.

They offer up to 1000 dollars in such circumstances - why not just say over the tannoy the first 4 to volunteer to get off can have 500 dollars each. I'm sure there would have been enough volunteers
They offered $800 and a hotel room per person, nobody too the offer

Let's imagine that the plane had gone down....and you were the poor sod dragged off pre flight.

They wouldn't have picked him if he was in a group. No idea why he was travelling but if he had a reasonable case he would have made it. He just refused.
He was with his wife wasn't he? So UA we're in the wrong then for picking a guy not on his own.

With his wife?...didn't look like she was offering much in the way of help...my good lady would have had someones eye out...

The airline can refuse to carry anyone they please. This is fact. The other 3 volunteers got $800 and a night in a hotel. When no one else volunteered they chose a passenger. It was him. He now was no longer being asked to volunteer he was being asked to get of the aircraft. He made such a scene that the cops were called.

All his own doing I'm afraid.
I once made £1000 by volunteering to be offloaded from 3 consecutive flights. A very pleasant afternoon that was, with no injuries.
Once you have been allowed on board it is not unreasonable to expect to fly.
This was the airlines fault. They should have known the seats were needed and sorted out volunteers before allowing passengers on.
Too many people willing to give up their rights these days.....
It's sheep we're up against...

Whatever the rights and wrongs he should know what US airport security is like. They go out of their way to not use common sense as i was told 'they have strict rules that allows them to do their job with clarity'. If you have been selected to get off that is it you are getting off like it or not. Sometimes it is better to know when a battle is lost and work from that.

It is not right but anyone who has dealt with US airports, homeland security etc knows what i mean, these guys are robots, you have more chance of a reasoned discussion with the terminator.

When i go i even act the fool a bit when dealing with homeland security and stuff, like leaving my finger on the scanner until they say take it off and i'll say 'oh sorry' kinda thing. The last thing you want is to bring any attention to yourself whatsoever. I find and acting super kind with a hint of needing their help normally gets you through with no hassle. Maybe a comment to HS at the end of them checking me out that gives them a tiny jolt of pride like 'now i am going to eat all your bbq in every state, been looking forward to this for ages'.

Just don't say anything along the lines of "I've heard the BBQ over here is the bomb".

Flew back to Manchester last year for the derby, Borussia and Bournemouth games. The passport officer asked the purpose of my visit, I told him I'd come to watch City beat the shit out of United, the officer in the next booth over burst out laughing, while the one I was talking to informed me I'd wasted my bloody time, that it was just a bunch of yobbos kicking an old leather bag around...Next! Get outta here
