United and Liverpool EFL project - proposal rejected

Ridsdale, yes the ex Leeds and now Preston Chairman was basically on all fours with his hairy arse in the air waiting for his portion of the pie this morning on the news.

The bribe they will get from the dippers and United in premier league money to keep them afloat will give them two odious clubs cart Blanche to do what ever they fuck they want. It’s a friendly gun to the head of the football league if you don’t get behind this you won’t exist anymore.

Open note to The Sheik, Khaldoon, Soriano et al.. maybe you’ll read this or one of your colleagues may pick it up and pass it on to you, along with the comments of almost every other City supporter on here, whatever their age and so on.. :

Please do NOT get involved with this dreadful scheme concocted by United, Liverpool and Parry.

In the 60 years since I was first taken to Maine Road, I have, like the rest of my family, been Blue. I’ve witnessed first hand incredible highs (from the title win at Newcastle to ‘Aguero-o-o!’ to 100 points to the Quadruple) and desperate lows (from my first relegation in 62-63 to the Swales era to going down at The Britannia to having the double done over us by (fair play to them!) Wycombe Wanderers)

During that time I’ve also witnessed the behaviour of Manchester United..
- the dreadful treatment of its staff post-Munich
- the financial shenanigans that secured them World Cup ground status in 1966 ahead of City (Maine Road had 32000 seats in place, cf United’s 18000 and both grounds were equidistant from the City centre..)
- the financial shenanigans that got the first cantilever stand built
- the strong arming of other clubs in the 90s to change levies and gate receipts procedures in their favour
- the steady accretion of power post-creation of the Premier League, all at the expense of other clubs
- the general arrogance of the club and some of its followers as they mopped up honours and money and power
- its manipulation of the media to its own ends
- its involvement in undermining our club via FFP and the ‘legal’ processes which followed on from that
- and so on and so and so on..

And during that time I’ve also witnessed the behaviour of Liverpool..
- its feral fans leading the charge in hooligan behaviour from the early 60s onwards
- the accretion of power post-creation of the Premier League, as with United above
- Heysel and all of its consequences
- the stoning of our team’s bus
- the illegal hacking of our club’s computer systems
- its manipulation of the media and other clubs
- its involvement in undermining our club via FFP etc, as with United
- its cultish arrogance and the pandering from the media which buoys up the whole organisation
- its treatment of local neighbours, buying up and running down properties to further its pursuit of a bigger stadium
- applying for furlough money
- and so on and so on and so on..

I know you guys have a business to run. I know that you have to do everything you must to maintain and secure that business, now and in the future. But believe me, and I know you know this already, these people cannot be trusted; nor will their tawdry scheme, with its naked power-grab at the expense of the rest of football, do anything but harm to the game/industry here in England.

Please, please stay away from these people. Work openly and in the correct spirit with the rest of the football family to resolve the issues and problems facing the game/industry. Offer to help or to lead where it’s appropriate. Be a supportive follower when that is required, too. The end result will be so much better for all concerned and football will thank you.

Just do the right thing, City..

Absolutely bang on the money. I'm just sorry I can only like it once.

Absolutely outstanding post. Well said that man. Hope someone, anyone, at the club reads it.

I'm not sure I agree with you here, those that are desperate won't be the ones screwed long term, I'd argue those in league one and two will be benefit longterm. The ones getting screwed are lower half PL teams and championship clubs with genuine ambitions of promotion.

The proposal does have some good things in it but they very fact its coming from American investor's and decision making is been handed over to the few is a nonrunner.

Change is badly needed though but it should be coming from the FA. I do think the league would be better off with 18 teams and 14 votes is too many for agreement, 11 is fairer or 10 in an 18 team league. If its harder to get into the PL then maybe more clubs will stop gambling their existence on the prospect of the big money. This is the biggest issue, the PL makes so much money shysters form all over the globe want a piece. The really wealthy snakes just buy a PL club but the mere millionaires buy up league clubs and bet the mortgage on them. Something simple like a tax clearance certificate every 2 months or you can't play would solve tonnes of problems. You wouldn't be allowed play without insurance so just tack on a tax clearance certificate to that requirement. Players will need to be paid or they won't play and they're are already rules in place for non payment of transfers. Maybe something really draconian like relegation to the conference if you go into administration? Either way it shouldn't be possible for some dude to stroll in and wreck 120 of history in 18 months. Cu*ts will be cu*ts so its not their fault, governance is needed.

The big clubs have always been the big clubs, but for shambolic management they will remain that way. No matter who makes the rules the big teams from the big cities will be always be near the top. The job of the FA is look after her small guys and leave the others look after themselves.

I agree that change is needed, but not sure a system which adds to inequality will help. Since the Championship was formed - just 16 seasons ago, 63 clubs have played in the top two divisions - that's a lot of turnover considering the league has never been so unequal.

I fully support the redistribution of TV money and it MUST come with much stricter finance rules - the clubs going bust have more money than they ever had, but it's the inequality between divisions and the over committing to try for promotion that is the problem.

It's amazing how many of us are saying enough is enough and "football is over for me if this goes through", it just shows the depth of feeling of how football has become.
We are all "still here" after our journeys through the lower divisions during the dark days but had enough even though we have one of the best teams in the world to watch.
it just shows how bad it has become...

Seems very convenient they have released this statement now as they would of probably known for weeks if not months they were in trouble

They've been asking for help for a while, and quite likely had something drafted already.

Trying to take advantage of the Parry/Henry firestorm is probably worth a shot.

Not sure how that happened, this was my post but came up on an account I haven't used for a long time, my old user name... Never mind back standing up again :-)
