United and Liverpool EFL project - proposal rejected

Let me start of by saying, I like Manchester City, the upheaval against the norm is a goods thing, at least for the most part.

This whole Project Big Picture is just bizarre.
Yes, the "big 6" have the most fans. Ok, that is true. No arguments.
The reason the PL is a success is because of its fight, its drama, its non closed unpredictable nature.

If the big 6 want this closed shop, then go to 18 teams, and let your good selves, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham (wtf) all play in this new shiny high powered league against your own B teams and youth teams.

Fans will be crying for rainy nights in Stoke inside a year.

Football is the game we all love because for every Utd there is a Rochdale. For every Liverpool an Accrington. History? Every fucking football league team has bucket loads of it. Tell a Barnet fan his love of his club is not on a par with a City fans love of his!

Fucking disgraceful what football has become and im really saddened to say that our own is right in the thick end of this shite imo and no better than the twats running Utd and Liverpool.

B teams replacing established clubs? Id sooner we went fucking bust and i mean it.

It's probably the truth - and one reason why this proposal is coming out now - screwing them while they're desperate.

There was a quote from someone in either the govt/PL saying that they didn't think the EFL were taking the negotiations about support seriously. If Parry had this up his sleeve, that's a huge conflict of interest.

I'd be happy if the PL teams voted through the EFL support package and changes to payments, without any of the power grab.

I'm not sure I agree with you here, those that are desperate won't be the ones screwed long term, I'd argue those in league one and two will be benefit longterm. The ones getting screwed are lower half PL teams and championship clubs with genuine ambitions of promotion.

The proposal does have some good things in it but they very fact its coming from American investor's and decision making is been handed over to the few is a nonrunner.

Change is badly needed though but it should be coming from the FA. I do think the league would be better off with 18 teams and 14 votes is too many for agreement, 11 is fairer or 10 in an 18 team league. If its harder to get into the PL then maybe more clubs will stop gambling their existence on the prospect of the big money. This is the biggest issue, the PL makes so much money shysters form all over the globe want a piece. The really wealthy snakes just buy a PL club but the mere millionaires buy up league clubs and bet the mortgage on them. Something simple like a tax clearance certificate every 2 months or you can't play would solve tonnes of problems. You wouldn't be allowed play without insurance so just tack on a tax clearance certificate to that requirement. Players will need to be paid or they won't play and they're are already rules in place for non payment of transfers. Maybe something really draconian like relegation to the conference if you go into administration? Either way it shouldn't be possible for some dude to stroll in and wreck 120 of history in 18 months. Cu*ts will be cu*ts so its not their fault, governance is needed.

The big clubs have always been the big clubs, but for shambolic management they will remain that way. No matter who makes the rules the big teams from the big cities will be always be near the top. The job of the FA is look after her small guys and leave the others look after themselves.

Exactly.......

11 EFL Clubs have released a statement saying if they dont get financial help they will go under.

Is this Parry's work trying to push this through?

Ridsdale, yes the ex Leeds and now Preston Chairman was basically on all fours with his hairy arse in the air waiting for his portion of the pie this morning on the news.

I find it strange that the BBC have quotes from the American owner of Leighton Orient saying what a good idea this is. A man who knows the owner of Liverpool well. Just what is it about football that US owners want to put there money into clubs. Is it that they know how much US teams make so think they could do the same over here. It seems to me this a step along a US model league and needs to be stopped

I'd guess this isn't news to him, he's probably been updating the WhatsApp group daily with news from the latest club in trouble, hence the timing of this.

The core issue is that EPL clubs are losing money, and the fundamental reason, as with any enterprise/organisation, is that expenses exceed income, you can't argue against that economic fact. EPL wages are unsustainable, obvious, not only that but ridiculously high given the situation with League One and Two clubs' finances (income). Average annual pay for a League One player is approx. £250k excl any bonuses, for a League Two player it is approx. £125k excl bonuses. To put that into context, League Two players' wages are double Scottish PL players wages at Hearts and Hibs, triple the others clubs. This excludes Rangers and Celtic. Scottish clubs cannot even compete some of the Vanarama National clubs.
Now it's well and good paying top dollar if your income can afford it. The answer has to be lower wages in the EPL, in particular L1 and L2 a cap.
