United and Liverpool EFL project - proposal rejected

Sky Sports News and Sky News spinning it as "these proposals have been received as largely positively as they include lots of good proposals for struggling clubs and so good of Liverpool to show leadership blah blah blah"

The spin machine has started its work ...

The Premier League have issued a statement where they call many of the proposals leaked today "damaging" and are critical of Rick Parry's support.

Turkey's not voting for Christmas just yet.

Very much an opening gambit or a windsock pointing the direction of travel though.

Hopefully like the 39th game they will have to put it off for 20 years as we are not "ready for it" yet.

I agree hence why I mentioned it but I do not get it who cares about playing the Romanian champions or even a big club in Brazil or some other powerhouse of footballer rather play Leeds for example and I dont remember them being in the top flight I even think other global football fans would rather watch a team like leeds than Romanian champions the quality has got to be better

IMO and I may be miles off here, is that they want to Harlem Globetrotterise the premier league because they've built certain teams up to be super clubs, playing in weird and wonderful countries will bring in even more money and power.

Imagine the rags and the scousers getting meaningful games in China and places like Indonesia?

IMO it's more to do with freeing up more time for overseas tours and meaningless intercontinental tournaments disguised as the Mr Noodle Invitation Super Cup or similar.
Couldn’t agree more. They’ve milked the English market for all it’s worth, next the world. They have 2 choices for expansion, increase the number of games in the same competitions or increase the size of the market. Forget the 39th league fixture abroad and expect tournaments in China, US, anywhere with a penchant for overpaid stars, and cash on the hip.

Never forget ..

Just when you thought things couldn't get more depressing. Covid, no fan's, pay per view games now these two shitehouse clubs trying to stitch it up for themselves even more.
