1. City and Van Gaal's outfit are two different situations, one with a great upside, and the other one about to go the way of nothing to brag about but revenue and "global fanbase".

2. This is nauseating rationalization, and it's becoming a popular talking point on places like redcafe. "Oh, we don't need to be in the Champions League, we're not good enough to win it anyway". Such defeatism.
