United (H) Post Match Thread

Got to page 45 before becoming frustrated with the abuse of Pep and the team. Take a step back for a moment - Pep and the team have produced some incredible moments, smashed records, dominated 95% of other teams and are playing football that is the envy of most of the football world.

The 'mistakes' he made yesterday were totally in control of the second placed team in the league. Yes we had a once in a life-time chance to win it against United but we need to stop defining our success based on what we do in our games against them. It's what we did when we were crap. Any bragging rights we would have had are short lived because if our points total doesn't show our complete superiority then nothing will. I had united fans texting - we ruined your night, you won't win it at our expense. If delaying our league title by a couple of games is how they've defined success for their season then that shows how utterly dominant we have been.

This team does crumble a little but yesterday was down to criminal stupidity and to be honest laziness. Letting Pogba jog through midfield and into our box whilst doing nothing about it was criminally stupid. That's not a result of pressure that's just dumb plain and simple. Leaving Herrera stood by himself on the edge of the box was dumb plain and simple.

The reality of being good is that all the crucial games come at once. Maintaining our workrate, discipline, concentration is tough. When you're playing teams who have playing against us as their only priority then it's so tough. So you end up with heart breaking games that all come at once. It's gonna happen again so let's grow some balls and leave the hysteria for when we're not running away with the league and smashing records
Couple of good points, but the only people who need to grow some balls are the team. Pathetic, limp defending 2nd half. Heads in the cloud and unproffessional. Shocking to lose that game from that position considering what was at stake.

So with a striker on the pitch we’d have had it sewn up by HT ?

Yes, but you dont need to be a striker mate to hit the target from 6 yards and just the keeper to beat. Had Sterling taken just one of those, I would have been confident they would not have come back from that.

If you want to blame Pep, that is your prerogative, but I would disagree.

I’ve honestly not felt this bad about City since we last got relegated. This is hard to take, very fucking hard!

Can’t believe the total capitulation that happened. I said after the game on Wednesday that every one of them had gone down in my estimations, well, after yesterday they’ve lost me a bit that team. I don’t feel the same about them as I did.

Very fucking hard to take!

To me (don’t give a shit that many will say I’m overreacting), it doesn’t matter what goes on before if you make fuck ups like the last week, when it’s really mattered, it sours the whole season for me!

We may very well go on to win the league but all this shit we’ve been spouting about breaking records and being the best team in Premier League history has gone out of the window. I’m sure I’ll get over it and feel better about it but this is a bad one... furious!

A very bad week in a brilliant season.

But we weren’t because our best finisher was sat on his arse. Then came on and nearly had his leg broken for good measure
Sorry, mate, but that doesn't make sense. He'd have been on the pitch for far longer, risking the Atkinson blind eye to his being out for the season.

I didn't really think the Sterling misses would cost us, but the half-time giddiness under the stands was ridiculous. Too many fans taking it for granted as well as the team. I still blame Atkinson though, setting his stall out early not penalising Young's rugby tackle on Sterling then punishing Sterling for brushing past Young.

Im not blaming pep as such but i just dont feel he either understood or cared how much it meant to win the league yesterday. Yes we’ll still win it but, speaking for myself, to win it in a derby wouldve meant so much more.

And you DO have to be a striker to hit the back of the net, which is why u have strikers and non strikers. Id have fancied aguero to bag one of those chances, wouldnt you?

You didn't need the best striker in the league to take those chances though. If we were 4-0 at half time (which we should have been with the players on the field), no one would be complaining about team selection

You give yourself a much better chance of scorning the 4 though with your best goal scorers on the pitch. Something we didn't have yesterday until it was too late.

Just watched the first half, how City weren't out of sight by half-time beggars belief. Criticism of Pep is OTT I feel. He did his job, put out a team to dominate the game and create clear chances which should have resulted in at least a 4 goal lead at HT. Who's to say Aguero would have got in the position Sterling was in to take those chances? Not seen the 2nd half yet but imagine the players subconsciously eased off a bit starting to think it was almost won and looking ahead to Tuesday. Not really excusable but understandable.

Beating the rags to win the title would be great for the fans and would make the title all the sweeter but in the bigger picture its all about lording it over them a bit more. The title will be won regardless. 100%.

Cant forget that Pep's bosses will be prioritising CL performance as key for his time at City. What if some brilliance from DeBruyne late in the game helps us get through to the semis?

Where Pep went most wrong I feel was the game at Anfield where he hedged his bets. Why not just have a wild shootout with Liverpool? If its another 4-3 at least you've got some away goals. Be a bit more savvy for the home leg.

We are all bitter that we lost to the rags, especially after starting the way we did, but I would expect any outfield player in those situations to at least have force DeGea to make a save.

Yes, I am sure Kun would not have missed, but he would not necessarily have had the exact same chances Sterling did
