United (H) Post Match Thread

To all those saying we shouldn't have rotated players Fernandinho gave the ball away in the build up to their first goal. He was aiming to pass it out wide to Bernardo but it was hit with such little power and conviction I'm not sure it would have reached him had it not been intercepted anyway.

Not blaming Fernandinho as he's been one of our best players this season and was one of the few players for me to come of the Liverpool game with any credit.

To me he looked dead on his feet in that 2nd half. He repeated the mistake later but United squandered that one.

The guy is 32? Played all season with only Yaya and Gundo as back up. He should have been rested, but we would have been damned if we did and damned if we didn't.

Your point about the fatigue is spot on. Liverpool looked spent at the end of their match, too. In hindsight, Pep probably was right to rest Kev and the strikers for Tuesday. No surprise that Delph looked our best player.

I would suggest that the club think more carefully about the fixture list in future, and ask for these high profile games to be played where they don't fall too near to CL game dates.

They can’t just delay games, that’s not how it works.

People saying it was the right ‘but we just missed chances’ - of course we were gonna miss chances, are best striker was sat on his arse!

Serg starts and we are champions now. Resting him, don’t make me laugh. He nearly had his fucking leg broken!

You didn't need the best striker in the league to take those chances though. If we were 4-0 at half time (which we should have been with the players on the field), no one would be complaining about team selection

Er, isn't that because he was rested but then came on?

That’s my point. We had to bring him on anyway and he nearly missed the Liverpool game(and the rest of the season) due to a tackle - play him, 4-0 then take him off

I’ve honestly not felt this bad about City since we last got relegated. This is hard to take, very fucking hard!

Can’t believe the total capitulation that happened. I said after the game on Wednesday that every one of them had gone down in my estimations, well, after yesterday they’ve lost me a bit that team. I don’t feel the same about them as I did.

Very fucking hard to take!

To me (don’t give a shit that many will say I’m overreacting), it doesn’t matter what goes on before if you make fuck ups like the last week, when it’s really mattered, it sours the whole season for me!

We may very well go on to win the league but all this shit we’ve been spouting about breaking records and being the best team in Premier League history has gone out of the window. I’m sure I’ll get over it and feel better about it but this is a bad one... furious!

Nothing would please me more than for us to get a convincing win and go through on Tuesday.
I’m a realist though. After watching the last two games it proves we don’t have the ability to be defend against teams willing to push us higher up the pitch twinned with our comical keystone cop defending, our inability to be ruthless in front of goal and put away simple chances. Sterling got about the pitch , but it went to prove he’s not a finisher, he always makes out he’s been impeded if he misses, players of his status should not be missing chances like those where he doesn’t have to break stride, it’s a pass into the goal, as for getting in the way of shots , criminal.
YES, we will win the league, but it was a once in a lifetime chance to win it v the rags at home. There’s nothing worse than losing a derby, but to lose it at home in such a comical way after creating so many easy chances and failing to put them away YET AGAIN, it’s difficult to stomach.

You didn't need the best striker in the league to take those chances though. If we were 4-0 at half time (which we should have been with the players on the field), no one would be complaining about team selection

But we weren’t because our best finisher was sat on his arse. Then came on and nearly had his leg broken for good measure

Again all the decisions went against us. Our defensive decisions as a collective, peps decision not to make any changes when the game was slipping away from us and we needed to get a grip of the game and the refereeing decisions were absolutely appalling. Terrible result, terrible week in what has been an incredible season.
