United (H) Post Match Thread

Gutting. First time in a while I've felt let down by the players.

Same with me. We absolutely murdered them in the first half and should have been four up. The same team allowed united back in.

I agree. We have folded like a pack of cards twice in 2 games. One game cos it was a bit too loud for our darlings. Confidence Is low in the fans and the squad. I'm anticipating not going through in the CL and folding under pressure against spurs. We'll stagger over the line.

Yep you could see it after one goal went in, the fans knew we were fucked. Waited far to long to get Kev on and get a grip of the game again.

Just watched replay after having read most of this forum for almost 24 hours.many said we bossed the first half, but in reality we only bossed the last 20 min after Kompany scored. Until then we passed the ball aroung ( mostly backwards as we normally do without Kev.( David Silva needs him to help with the incisive attacking passes as Gundogan and Bernardo Silva tend to play the easy pass rather than the attacking ball.) I get the posts that say if sterling scores one of his chances or Gundogan puts his header to either side of De Gea then game over.but tbf Sterling was playing well ( and I’m not totally sold on him but fair dos) and United looked gone.yes, the ref and linesman seemed to penalise us and not them, especially Ashley young, but I agree with the posts that say we came out in the 2 nd half thinking it was over.slow, not gang pressing for the ball, but biggest problem for me is why when we concede, we panick for 15 mins and let three in( just like Liverpool.)I though the original 4-3 at Liverpool was because Stones was out of form and losing possession and people lost confidence in him .so when Vinny paired with Otamendi and got game time under his belt I thought he would be the big presence in defence and steady the ship.but we panicked for 15 min at Liverpool and conceded three and the same here.
So how do the people on this thread say when we put 4 past Liverpool and beat spurs away we will forget this. Both teams will get at us like the last two games so what will change to keep clean sheets. I don’t see it.i don’t know the answer but this time next week we could have lost 4 on the trot and start to panick totally.
By not fielding our best 11 including kdb we lost the chance to make amends for first Liverpool loss and go into replay full of confidence.
I hope the miracle happens in which case we go to spurs full of confidence. If not we might end up winning the league because United lose a game or two and what a let down that will be. If we beat Liverpool, Barca, real and Bayern will get at us too.how far will we go with the present defence.....

Once in a lifetime opportunity ???? NO ITS NOT! With Pep in charge we more than likely will get another chance against them at Home or at OT in the next few years.

I will never forgive Pep?. Tell you what, go cry in the corner! Stop being a spoilt sounding littleboy. Jesus I'm sick and tired of the likes of you moaning and others on here. If we do go through in the CL you don't deserve to see us win that game. Prefer the old days with fans supporting the team, than a couple of defeats and this arrogant attitude that we should win every game.
Prepare for abuse pal because your post is way too sensible.

That second half defensive performance was scandalous, just like the Dippers debacle. Any form of pressure and they crumble which is worrying. Stones and Laporte imo are the future and hopefully next season they will form a solid pairing. Otamendi has been great this season and can still play a major role but Stones and Laporte need to play together.

Ref bottled the stonewall penalty on Aguero, but game should have been over at half time. Thank god we are still 13 points clear, but Spurs will be difficult

We had a once in a lifetime opportunity to win the title on derby day, and Pep decides to rest KDB and play without a striker, because he wants to rest players for a CL game, that we`re already 95% out of. Pep should have seized the opportunity, but instead, we lost to a shite team. I will never forgive him for this, even if we go through in the CL. Nothing is worse than losing to the scummy rags
Never change blues, never change!

Thats if you are blue.

Yet we were 2-0 with our weak side. I can't get my head around what happened yesterday, how the fuck we lost that. I am more fucked off with that than the Liverpool result.

I truly believe if we played the strongest team we would have been 4 or 5 up and wouldn't have lost that game.

If those chances that we created for Sterling had fell to Aguero or Jesus you have to think they’d have buried one of them. Sterling is a great player but at times his finishing is woeful. His first one on one yesterday was about 20 feet over the bar !

Never thought i would be but I'm sadly in the Pep fucked up camp, never mind Sterling, never mind the ref, if we'd had a full strength team out we wouldn't have let that slip. That is the 2nd time Pep has played a weakened team against united and for me that is a crime, personally I would rather beat united in a league cup game than Liverpool in the Chumps League. Please if someone inside the club is reading this forum explain to Pep what MANCHESTER is about.

Sadly I agree. I can only say how I feel and that's deflated.
I hope the players have more fire in them than I have after the last two games.

You can’t say that mate. Pep cannot be questioned and we all should be happy with the biggest week of our season going tits up by awful decisions. Whilst some idiots will want to play down the derby (very rag like with how they played it down to us) it means a lot to us fans. He should be accountable for his actions. I’m very good at my job but if I had as bad of a week as he has had then I’d be explaining myself.

Does anyone know the pricks crying in the stand after the game shown to the world on sky, if so name and shame the fuckers! They should be paraded before the crowd at the next home game and pelted with rotten tomatoes! Talk about embarrassing

Fuck me there’s some flappers on here!
We’ve had two freak results imo, partly down to fatigue (I know they’ve had a break but some of look leggy) at the closing stages of an incredible season. We have conceded two games to inferior opposition as a result. Yesterday we could have been 5-0 up half time but we weren’t. It happens. Even in that poor second half we could have had another three but for a brilliant save, bad luck, and one of the most obvious penalties you’re likely to see being denied by a referee who makes me question the integrity of the game I love. In fact his performance in the second half was ludicrously one sided and absolutely aided the result.
Having said all that I don’t know what has happened to our defending. We lost control and we lost our concentration.
So with one trophy in the bag we will also win the title in a matter of days. It’s no big deal really.

We don’t get much practice at facing sustained pressure, but we should be capable of defending set pieces and crosses. United didn't have the ball enough yesterday to sustain pressure on us. They had 15 minutes where they created 3 chances.

The ref was awful, but we should have been out of sight in the first half. Then, definitely for their second and third goals they were absolutely free. No marking, no challenge and nobody trying to get in the way.

Young’s foul on Sergio was a disgrace. It was a blatant penalty and anywhere else on the pitch he’d get pulled up for it. The ref bottled that and a few other decisions. Sterling had a defender on his back in the first half and it was waved away.

But, my concern is that they had 4 chances yesterday and scored 3 goals. That’s just not good enough at any level of football. I don’t want to criticise the team, we’ve been superb this year. We capitulated yesterday because we thought the game was won. We took our foot off the gas and panicked when they scored. We didn’t try to change the intensity, we didn’t make subs until we were behind and we were very guilty of not putting the game to bed when they were on the ropes first half.

Just saved me a job. I was going to say what you did but wanted to calm down a but first. Still can't believe what I saw yesterday.

Can anyone tell me why Gundogan refuses to tackle and yet is playing Cm. Ability not in doubt but he shit out of every challenge. Did the same against lpool with Milner for Oxs goal. They stepped it up tempo wise yesterday and got more physical and he went missing. Again.

I felt worse travelling home last night than the Wigan final, that really hurt to lose in that way.
Will take a long time to get over yesterday.

Not felt like this since we last got relegated at Ipswich. Never seen anything like it, peoples’ faces were just shell shocked. Coming out of the ground there was an Erie silence. People weren’t talking to each other, just walking to Town with heads down.

Yeah the crowd conceded those three goals - bollocks. Rags hardly sang at all until they got back into it.

Exactly.

They and their team were dead & buried, their players had bottled it & the crowd was getting right at them.

They came out 2nd half, geed up by Mourinho, ready to have one last go & were met by a half empty, half hearted ground & a City team who also thought it was easy.
