United (H) Post Match Thread

I am still fucking pissed at this. Hard.

It's almost as if Pep wanted to lose from the beginning. Inexplicable brain fade.

The penalty after 30 seconds played into the Rags hands , exactly what they wanted something to hold on to , might appear silly but Jesus rush of blood cost us the game despite there being 90 minutes left. The media narrative that the Rags fully deserved their win is ridiculous , we created more chances , more corners , more crosses into the box 65% of the game was played around their penalty area.
But when the Rags win anything facts go out of the window , we all know where the Rags are at , and it is nowhere near our level they can win a one-off game especially when we gift them a goal in the first minute , we were miles away from our best on Sunday and yet they played their best performance of the season and still if we had been clinical we would have won.
Bad day at the office is an over used cliche but that is exactly what Sunday was , 22 wins on the trot and then losing to at best an average team is all the proof we need.

There was still 89 minutes to go to devise another plan. But we move on.
That’s true mate but a new plan with us starting a goal down instead of level, hence chasing the game, which threw the whole dynamic ... We should have been able to reset as you say but we didn’t .. Beat Southampton tomorrow and I will consign the defeat on Sunday to the bin, without a second glance ..!

After a couple of days I am feeling more pragmatic about the game. Its a wake up call for the squad and will help to cure us fans from getting too giddy.

We really didn't deserve to win it. It was the easiest game Maguire and Lindelhof have had all season. Henderson had his pipe and slippers on.
Shocking from Pep. I'd dock him a month's salary.

respect your opinion , but ive just watched a re-run and cant believe we lost that game , the Rags defended for their lives which most inferior teams have to do to win against the odds.

Possibly the most irritating thing about what was essentially a meaningless derby defeat is the end-of-the-world nonsense talked by City fans who clearly know nothing about the game. We dominated the game, missed chance after chance and they got two essentially lucky goals without ever getting on top.

You will be accused of wearing blue tinted specs , which couldnt be further from the truth , the Rags will not play to that level for the rest of the season the sad bastards will be dining out on the derby result for weeks , and many amusing t-shirts will be printed for their 659m plastics to purchase.
It will be hilarious if a decent West Ham side went to the Swamp and got a result , rendering all their derby efforts futile.

Exactly.very annoying when Shearer says MANURE were brilliant. Come on ffs

I didn't see it but my Dad told me his "analysis" was laughable, and so was Danny Murphy's.

Shearer appears to know less about football than many of the posters on here. To be fair to Murphy he's usually not bad, but pundits often build this simplistic narrative which is often a long way from the truth.

United were "brilliant" in the same we that City were "brilliant" when we won 2-0 at Old Trafford in 2008. We, and they, rode huge amounts of luck and showed a bit of grit against a far superior team.

We can go on all day long about Foden and Bernardo starting but that starting 11 was better than theirs no matter what the difference of opinions are.

The problem was chasing the game after a complete brainstorm from Jesus.

We had lots of chances, more than them but simply either didn't take them or it was a case of too many players collectively having an off day. We were due a defeat at some point and the 11 point cushion is still there. I don't know what Pep was thinking personally with some of his decisions but it's all hindsight.

I expect a reaction on Wednesday night to gauge if this was a "one off" or not.

What the derby highlighted for me is the KdB role. He has said he sees himself as a playmaker but too often his passes were misplaced and the ball lost against a packed defence leaving us on the back foot against route one attacks. In KdB's absence Gundo, Phil Foden, Bernie, Raheem, Jesus and Mahrez have all worked in midfield at times, with creativity, high energy pressing, ball retention and also scoring goals.

KdB needs to better judge when to do a hollywood pass but more importantly needs to score more goals himself and be more of a threat. He is more than capable of 10+ a season.

let them keep saying it about players that only turn up for one game
in fact the more they lick the the bums of united the more they will win nothing
PFA player of the year ? manager of the season ? young player of the year ? and the made up token award to rashford
they all get my vote

just didnt see us turning that game around after going 1-0 down. I think that is one thing that slightly worries me, our ability to come from behind
It’s a pathetic excuse, we had 89 minutes left to play, to suggest we couldn’t recover is a joke and would be extremely worrying if true.

KDB has had some bad luck with injuries this season. also he has hit a brick wall and can not find any form
but special players can not be dropped because it will happen again for him at any moment. the only downside is his match fitness and looks to me like he is blowing and not finding his 2nd wind. KDB just sits in the false 9 as the striker to hide for 5 to 10 minutes and even dare i say walks about

lets hope the game time under his belt will spring him into action soon. all it needs is one killer pass or a goal any sort of goal even a worldly open mouth goal one will do nicely

absolutely it is. But its something that worries me about this team. When was the last time we came from behind in the league?

Theres just this part of me that just thinks the game is over when we go behind, very rarely do we turn things around.
