United Post Match Thread

Don't care what people say but there's far more to this City team than what we are seeing. They are not too old, they are not passed it, there's vast amounts of quality and experience that in my opinion has been wasted for the last 2 years. There was effort and heart today but the team looks too disjointed and its all sooooo predictable. I'm fed up seeing Aguero isolated as the loan striker every single week because Pellers cant play another formation. Poor Demichelis is just out of his depth now and he knows it, its a shame Pellers doesn't. This team isn't finished, it needs subtle changes to its personal and its approach to winning football matches, watch this space. Roll on next season and hope to God we can edge 4th place. (cough) Well done Utd (cough)
Agree. This team is NOT finished, far from it.

An utter calamity of a season. For enjoyment, this is the worst season since the takeover
That's it. It's not that we're so far behind, it's just not enjoyable. We're fucking dire to watch.

I completely agree, far from finished, just woefully mismanaged. Wonder where Leicester would be with Pellegrini at the helm.....?

OK.

You are the manager until the end of the season. Pellegrini has gone.

You have to work with the players (and injuries) we have got.

What would YOU do, to ensure we finish in the top four?

I don't think you'd have to do a lot, I'd expect there'd be a sudden change in attitude off the players. They cannot be enthused or inspired by a corpse

I saw the team sheets and guessed the result, was confident before they came out.

Am I the only one who would have played Sagna at CB and Zabba at RB, thus consigning MDM (who I won't call, he was put in that position) on the bench at best.

No mate, given the demise of MdM most of us would have set up like that but either MP didn't give a shit or still thinks he can play.....I don't know which is worse to be honest but the current predicament reflects poorly on the whole MCFC management team imo

Play 3-5-2 and Kelechi up front with Aguero (what we should have done from the start today).

Even Demichellis realises he can't play. To be nervous before a game when you have been playing for more than 15 years says he knows he is finished. He should just retire. Big mistake keeping him.

I think there is some hyperbolic attitudes in regards to the squad and the future under Pep.

We don't need 8 or 9 new signing like Carragher has suggested. We just need 3 or 4 top quality ones. We need 2 top quality CMs (Gudogan and Pogba etc), a fast attacking player and a full back. Add the likes of Denayer, Garcia and Angelinho and we will be good to go. Rashford has shown that youth players can make the step up if given the chance.

We simply just have an absolute fraud of a manager. He is absolutely useless. We have no game plan and that is the main reason we are struggling. It's almost as if Yaya, Kun and Silva have free reign to do whatever they want on the pitch and the other players just have to shoehorn their game around them.

All three of them ignore their defensive duties, come deep for the ball, and Kun aside, offer zero off the ball forward movement. Because of their inability to defend we have Fernandinho, Navas and Sterling who have to be much more disciplined and means they cannot get forward as much as they should. As a result we have a piss poor attack which is slow and laboured.

You only have to look at Bony's relationship with Kun to see that there is no team plan. When they are both playing in a 4-4-2 the immobile Bony is the one who has to drop deeper and Kun is the more advanced despite all of their attributes suggesting it should be the opposite. Bony should be the target man and Kun should be buzzing around him. Then when Kun is the lone front man, the fucker is never in the box. Pellers should be out there making sure he is in the box. We don't need our only CF to be running out wide or picking the ball up 40 metres from goal.

Then we have Spanish Dave who would drive a Ferrari like a Micra. I love the guy to bits but he needs to fuck off slowing play right down at every opportunity. All the time he seems to want to take the extra touch or play that extra pass instead of upping the tempo. Sometimes when you aren't creating chances you just need to gamble.

Leicester and Spurs ar ethe two best sides in this league by a country mile and that is solely down to their players buying into their managers plan. Both of them sides play greater than the sum of their parts.

When Pep arrives every single player will either have to adapt to his plan and way of playing or they will be shown the door.

It was such bad and frustrating watch that I relented and let my two year old watch cartoons for the first 20 minutes of the second half.

We really missed a trick keeping Pellegrini last summer. We could've looked for a manager for the season. Instead we're drifting towards our worst finish since 08/09.

We are a disorganised shambles. Consistently poor team selection and setup, no clear plan, poor set pieces, dreadful substitutions, picking out of form players, ignoring youth and generally squandering a good if aging squad.

Pellegrini got very lucky getting the City job when he did. He inherited a team that knew how to defend and was hurting. That drove us to a league title.

The further we move on from that league win the clearer it is that the league was won through luck not judgement.

Pellegrini has set us back years. Too late to fire him I suppose.

The season has been the greatest wasted opportunity we've ever had.

I must admit I had £150 on a ushited win at 7/2. Could not resist. My thoughts were if City win ,quite happy to loose it, if City draw not so happy to loose but at least we keep the 4 point cushion. If we loose it will soften the blow but it has not. I have never been so down about a bookie giving me money. All that money spent on this squad for the pile of pooh we witnessed today. The result was soooo predictable.
