United post-match thread

There is not winning games then there is performances like tonight and Sunday. As blues we can all accept sometimes being second best but give it a fucking go. To go our most games without a win since the takeover is a shocking stat. There is being optimistic and then realistic and we are in a rut at the moment
No denying we are in a rut, it was always going to be turbulent at the start of Pep's reign though (amazed we won the first 10) . He has a plan and funnily enough knows his stuff. I already seen a huge difference in our attitude, application and passion and we have been playing wonderful football in patches. I know the main statistic is scoring more goals than the opposition but once we find our rhythm, balance and ruthlessness we will be a joy to watch and goals will be free flowing I'm
sure. Patience is the key !

We were very poor, even the side we put out tonight should have been better than that.
I know it's not an important trophy in the scale of things but losing to those c*nts hurts at any time.
This, I could have understood Pep selecting a weakened side, and all but throwing the game prior to kick off, against any other team left in the competition, but certainly not against that shower of shite, simply because "we have bigger fish to fry"

If Manuel Pellegrini had selected that starting line up, in any match against the scum he would be getting some almighty stick on here, and rightly so.

Why did city agree to £40 ticket if not even intending to play a proper side? The club and manager shitting on the fans.

Maybe because even though this competition is known for having second teams playing in it there are always dumb supporters who cough up and complain afterwards, if someone is daft enough to pay £40 for a Mickey Mouse cup ticket that's their problem.

Fuck me, there are some amazing reactions on here tonight, fully understand that we don't want to lose to these fuckers at any time but it is what it is.

99% of us wanted Pep so buy into what he is doing, fuck, if i can put up with Coppell, Frank Clarke, Pearce and Ball then i am sue I can cope with this.

Revisit this thread in 12 months and see where we are.
Spot on

Thats ridiculous ! How dare you come on here after a defeat and talk sensible.

He didn't throw the game that is just utter horseshit

Too many people see the end result ... a 1-0 loss.We played their possible strongest team and we had 9 changes from Sunday and rightly so.I was happy to win this trophy last season mainly due to the fact that in all honesty at the time,it was our only hope of picking some silverware up.I`m not too arsed this year and would sooner us go all out for the PL and FA Cup as we have to be realistic and say that we are not right ready for a fight for the CL Final.
However I have no doubt that this will happen under Pep and IMO I feel that he will have at least 5/6 years to reach his goal and not just his current 3 year deal.
Totally agree

Not blaming them totally but the officials played a big part in the result tonight, two fouls in the build up to the goal and a free kick every time a rag went down

Am i severely missing something here? Everyone saying united should be worried as we played a shadow squad? If we didnt want to win the only trophy we won last year then go out first game, and what is the bigger picture? 2 points from 2 last home games which we should be winning, 7 goals conceded in last 2 champions league games, i honestly think we are going backwards, this season is a mirror of last started on fire then dwindled out, i await the rag comments etc but some people need to realise that we are not that great

Thought we were good first half but poor in the second, especially after they scored. Too many are playing like strangers tonight and aguero and raheem didn't improve things. We seem to struggle to match the speed and precision in transition that we showed early season and that seems to me to be at the heart of our current problems. There were positives, Vinnie, Garcia played well first half. Maffeo really impressed. Disapointing to lose to a poor team but not the end of the world. Tbh this is what I thought it would be like for the first two or three months. It will come good. Let's judge where we are in the spring and I will be very surprised if we are not in contention for the three remaining trophies.

It's not a mickey mouse cup, but of the 4 competitions we're in, it's obviously the least important, and if staying in it is an unwelcome distraction, then it's probably better to go out of it. We'll be glad we're out if later in the year, we've had a week off and we're playing a team that had to play in the League Cup on Wednesday. Let's face it, when the rags were good, they always used to field massively weakened teams in this competition, and Arsenal nearly won it with a youth team one year.

Oh whoop fucking doo. The kids played well who will probably be sold . Let's rejoice when we see the rags win the cup . We love getting beat by the rags. It gives me a real feel good factor.
Give yourself a shake Jay. Their strongest against our reserves???? Fuck the league cup, we're I. Fir the PL and the CL. They're in for shite all in a pissy EFL cup and Europa league. Perspective is needed here

sorry but neither were fouls

ottomendi over committed himself and ibra just turned away - very poor from Nico and int he also few games he has started to slip into very bad habits

the second could have easily been a penalty to them if mata hadn't scored

I'm sorry but they were both fouls

He's also the underlying reason why we have Guardiola.

I'm not convinced Txiki is the entire reason Guardiola is at the club. A small factor, perhaps, but Pep is about more than just joining one of his mates.

And if Txiki was so influential in this, why has he been signing players Pep has immediately wanted shipped out? Mangala, Bony, etc
