United post-match thread

sorry but neither were fouls

ottomendi over committed himself and ibra just turned away - very poor from Nico and int he also few games he has started to slip into very bad habits

the second could have easily been a penalty to them if mata hadn't scored
At the very start of the season he appeared to have lost that habit, but Pep needs to kick his arse again and tell him to stop it.

You need to watch it again...and again! I think the first was a foul but there may be a slight doubt. The second was blatant he just plain took Fernando out so he couldn't clear the ball.

Not sure about that. Don't think there was anything in the first one from Ibrahimovic, but the one from Herrera was a clear foul imo.

Don't remotely agree. Ibra backed into Otamendi when he was in the air, like he was allowed to get away with all game. It's a blatant foul, making no attempt to play the ball but instead to play the man. Then the second one Herrera throws himself shoulder first into Fernando's back, as clear a foul as you'll see. Then they are getting fouls whenever we even breath near the back of them, he referee'd the game completely differently for the two sides. How Carrick gets away with swiping Garcia's ankle in the first half as well can only be described as textbook Mike Dean. No match can go by without him being the main event

could be seen as a foul on herrara and I'm pretty sure the ref was about to blow for it and would have done if mata hadn't scored

I think Pep will achieve great things with us eventually and take us to the next level but unlike some managers we have had in the past I don't think he "gets us" as a club at all.

His pre match interview where he went on about the scum being a big club and us essentially having no history was cringe worthy. If we progress in the CL, which will probably depend on the game in Germany, I await the FA Cup also being ditched. I think its the PL or now't this season.

ottomendi was poor in that situation.....all big nose did was turn him...ottomend's movement allowed him to do that

Watched the highlights on channel 5 and all agreed both were fouls on city players

I'm not convinced Txiki is the entire reason Guardiola is at the club. A small factor, perhaps, but Pep is about more than just joining one of his mates.

And if Txiki was so influential in this, why has he been signing players Pep has immediately wanted shipped out? Mangala, Bony, etc

Without Begiristain I genuinely don't think we'd have Guardiola.

As for the signings you mention, I'm sure Begiristain didn't envisage them turning out so badly, and they came well before Pep arrived.

Begiristain has to take a large share of the blame for those signings, but it's hardly evidence that he wasn't instrumental in getting Guardiola.

How can Fernando being barged in the back be construed as a foul on Herrera?!

Fucking shit. Sack Pep and all his ponsy Barca mates. The players are shit, Silva couldn't even be arsed playing. Sabbath and KDB are just feigning injury. We'll get beat 8-0 next week and won't even get in the top 4!

Have I covered it all?

I am not too bothered about losing this game, and we are at least out of this cup. It has been a wooden spoon for us over the last few years.

I think pep made the game a nothing game by putting out a B team, Utd didn't and couldn't prove anything imo.

Am more concerned at the dressing room attitude and togetherness. Things haven't been right since the Celtic game .

This, I could have understood Pep selecting a weakened side, and all but throwing the game prior to kick off, against any other team left in the competition, but certainly not against that shower of shite, simply because "we have bigger fish to fry"

If Manuel Pellegrini had selected that starting line up, in any match against the scum he would be getting some almighty stick on here, and rightly so.

He had better hair too.

Win the next 4 league games and tonite will be a distant memory
