I wonder if I'm alone in this, but being a City fan I'd rather chew my arm off than watch Utd, unless they are playing us, consequently I've no idea how they accumulated their points last season. Utd must be good because they got the same points as us, but how good, strengths and weaknesses I don't have a clue.

My point is, being City fans how often do we actually watch Utd play and how easy is it to see past our dislike of the club to objectively analyse them?

I saw Utd on the box three times last season, I'll leave it to you to guess who their opponents were.
I watch every game that doesn't clash with ours.

Forbidden fruit is it? Why do you watch the scum? Why not take up knitting or some similar engaging hobby?

I watch any of the Live game's on tv.

The rag games are more interesting, i support whoever they play for 90mins.. And i watched every one of the United game's in the run in, pissing myself laughing as they spinked 8 points away...

I can sort of see that but gave up pretty quickly after Tom Daley's antics. The key rag games - Wigan I was there at v WBA and Everton gave up at 4-2. But whilst i always support whoever they play against (Founder Member of Benfica SC Manchester Branch) I have only ever watched them when City had an interest. Anyone who watches their every game is a closet rag imo.

Re: United thread 2012/13.

I think it's fair to say that ANY game of theirs last season had the potential for us to have an interest in, it'll be the same again this season too I would imagine.

Absolutely bullshit!! I watch all united games that don't clash with us, I'm intrested in the result, their performance as I'm a football fan and will discuss it with my united fan brother and friends. I'd watch any footie on the tele so your theory is just shit

Re: United thread 2012/13.

I know that this may come as a shock but Sore Al-hic has a way of saying whatever the f**k suits him at a given time. As I recall he spouting some bollox, this time last year, about how 'you can't ever ignore the defending champions... there's no doot aboot that'.

What an absurd last sentence, assuming you are being serious. That's like saying a historian who studies Hitler is a Nazi, or or asking why would you watch "The Office" if all it does is make you cringe.

Human beings require various stimulus and included in that, for many blues, is watching united play. Not because they are "closet rags", as you have so simplistically put it, but because they are precisely the opposite. I imagine it's the same reason that people watch horror movies or go on scary rides at Alton Towers. It's a combination of morbid fascination and the faint hope that they might get beat that attracts them to it. Unlike you, I watched the whole of the united Everton game in a pub in Stourbridge, before going to Molineux, and I found the experience to be exhilarating and painful at the same time.

Surely one of the reasons to follow a football club is to feel more alive and watching united occasionally delivers that, at least for me. Especially when the cunts get beat.

Re: United thread 2012/13.

First - "fergie plans to bring in transfers to close the gap on Barca"
Now this - "fergie priority to win the league back off City"

**Nothing like setting an unrealistic targets yet again.

*Fergie doing a Redknapp - targets big name players who can't afford*

"Man United fear Robin Van Persie will cost £30m"
"Man United fear being priced out of Lucas Moura"
"Man United are fearful of being priced out of Luka Modric"

"Everton value Baines at £15 million, but United unwilling to pay that much"

each to their own GDM, but I never watch the rag cunts unless against City
For years i even stopped going to the swamp.

When they played Barca in the Chumps final a few years back, the good lady and i were on holiday. As we walked down the street looking for a place to eat several were enticing us with the 'we have the big game on', the ones who got our business was the one without a TV
