Re: United thread 2012/13.

I have a question for PB i dont think this has been mentioned or touched upon?

im just wondering how is the IPO allowed under ffpr?, If the glazers sell a 500m stake in the club then surely that money should go to them not on uniteds debts, If it is spent on uniteds debt is this not classed as a 500m injection from an external source?.

Would it then be legal for city to acquire a 500m loan and allow our owner to pay it off?

I wonder if I'm alone in this, but being a City fan I'd rather chew my arm off than watch Utd, unless they are playing us, consequently I've no idea how they accumulated their points last season. Utd must be good because they got the same points as us, but how good, strengths and weaknesses I don't have a clue.

My point is, being City fans how often do we actually watch Utd play and how easy is it to see past our dislike of the club to objectively analyse them?

I saw Utd on the box three times last season, I'll leave it to you to guess who their opponents were.

I will watch every match that does not clash with ours. Can not understand why anyone who is a football fan would not watch a match if they had the opportunity.
All my mates are rags. I would much rather sit there watching the match and having banter with them than watch shit like celebrity big brother.

what a ridiculous comment to make, followed by condescending twaddle
i'd put both on the same level for entertainment

I'll come on here, read, listen to music, watch a film before watching them, and i am a fan of football
each to their own eh?

I watch any of the Live game's on tv.

The rag games are more interesting, i support whoever they play for 90mins.. And i watched every one of the United game's in the run in, pissing myself laughing as they spinked 8 points away...

I can sort of see that but gave up pretty quickly after Tom Daley's antics. The key rag games - Wigan I was there at v WBA and Everton gave up at 4-2. But whilst i always support whoever they play against (Founder Member of Benfica SC Manchester Branch) I have only ever watched them when City had an interest. Anyone who watches their every game is a closet rag imo.

Absolutely bullshit!! I watch all united games that don't clash with us, I'm intrested in the result, their performance as I'm a football fan and will discuss it with my united fan brother and friends. I'd watch any footie on the tele so your theory is just shit

You make an interesting point, I'm from Manchester but live in Norwich. I get up to Manchester to see City, where my two brothers are season ticket holders, as often as I can. I see Norwich when I can get a ticket and I was lucky to get a ticket to see City thump them 6-1 (though, as I live here 3-0 would have been kinder on my Norwich mates, but, as we know, every goal counted last season).
My point is, I don't think I would call myself a football fan, I'm a City fan. I'm 55 and first went to Maine Road in the early 60's with my dad and I've loved City ever since and I've seen them over the years through thick and mostly thin, and now that I live in Norfolk I've developed a fondness for Norwich (but they are not City) and that's it.
If I don't have a dog in the fight I can't be arsed to watch Chelsea, Liverpool, Stoke, United, I'm simply indifferent to the players, manager, result (unless it impacts on City). I'm not a fanatic, but I don't love football for its own sake, I love watching City, I really love watching City play well and I really do love watching City play well and win the league, the other teams are just occasional opponents that turn up and play City.

If it came across as condescending when criticising celebrity big brother, then I apologise. I realise we all have different tastes and people probably think what I like is shit.

I don't think it is a ridicluous statement to say I do not understtand why a football fan would not watch the rags if they had the opportunity.
I would think that most of us are football fans even though we love City. As people who like football, i just find it a bit hard to digest why someone would let their hatred of a club prevent them from watching a game.

Maybe because it is a reason to get away from the missus etc that we make it a social reason to watch United and have a few beers etc. Maybe I do not appreciate that not everyone has the same opportunity

I must admit love watching them get beat in CL last season easy to be a fan of Ajax or FC Basel for the night. If I know they have won I don't go anywhere near their game if they have lost always nice to watch. :-)

Do you not think that you can be more subjective when watching other teams play?
To be honest I enjoy watching othger teams more than I enjoy watching us. You can appreciate a game more. I become to emotionaly involved when watching us. Yes its great when we score and when we win. But it is not really enjoyable is the sense when watching the match. I enjoy watching it later when we have won via the highlights.
So I watch other football teams for entertainment, for wasting a few hours etc. I watch City because it is part of me. Thats why I fget the same sensation and nerves whether we are playing in the Auto Glass Windscreens trophy or the Champions League.

fair enough nhd but, to paraphrase Shankly "i would close the curtains if they were playing at the bottom of my garden"

I certainly wouldn't want to mix with the plastic fookers in my local!

Thats fair enough. Thinking about it, I can understand why someone would not watch it while sat at home with the missus and kids etc.

I will watch United with my mates and its good being able to sit there giving them shit while not really caring in the past what score it was at it had no impact on us.
Recently though it has been great as although in the past I wanted United to get beat, the fact their results impacted on us has gave it extra spice.
Nothing better than a few mates round, a few beers and me supporting anyone but United :-)

Re: United thread 2012/13.

I watch all sorts of footie matches besides them and do enjoy watching a game without nerves, in relation to them, unless we are playing them, I know they have got beat (highlights) or I can support the opposition the answer is no.
