Re: Without RVP rags would be mid table

If they hadn't signed Van Rapist either Rooney would be up front or they would have splashed out on someone like Lewandowski instead. That said neither of them would have matched Van Rapist's goal scoring feats so it's quite possible their points total would be lower than it is now... certainly not mid-table though, they will never be mid-table unless they suffer a Liverpool-esque decline in the post-Baconface years (unlikely given their revenue stream and heavy spending but I think they may become less dominant).

Just shows that Sir Alex is a magical manager, seeing things none of us could possibly imagine, who'd have thought Van Persie would be a success

Pure stroke of genius mate, who else would have thought one of the best strikers in Europe, with loads of Champions League and Premier League experience would do so well in a top PL side, only one man could have seen that, and that man was 'Baconman'.

From the van Persie thread

It still scares the crap out of me how many posters in the summer over in the Van Persie thread were begging the club not to sign this guy.

Apparently he wasn't what we needed, he was over rated, only had a fluke one off season and was just going to be injured all year.

For the record, I think we'd be comfortably top right now if we got him. Absolute top player.

Even though you could see it, many of us City fans couldn't see it. So don't act as though everyone could see it, what you are implying is false

What a fuckin toolbox, what the fuck have supporters got to do with it ? It's managers that count and there isn't a manager in the league who wouldn't have taken Bucky O'Hare if they could, jebus, there's some right fuckin whoppers on the internet, oh and less of the 'US', you're not kidding anyone sunshine.

Re: Without RVP rags would be mid table

People said they had an average team last year but they got 90 points. He was just a missing piece of the jigsaw by the looks of things

Re: Without RVP rags would be mid table

Good for them that they have signed someone who has been the best player in the league for the last two years, ain't it.

Meanwhile our neighbours are charging West Ham fans £45 for the FA Cup mid-week replay. Stunning greed as ever.
Tickets for FA cup games are the same price as league games (not going to change them with auto cup scheme are they) so where West Ham fans are allocated it's £45 adults, £35.50 for under 21's, £26 for over 65's/under 18's and £12 for under 16s. Overpriced yes, but worth listing all price categories if you're going to slag them off....

I believe this is the article the OP is referring to

<a class="postlink" href="http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/premier-league-united-mid-table-without-van-persie-113317544.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/prem ... 17544.html</a>

Premier League - United would be mid-table without Van Persie

To say that Manchester United have been overreliant on Robin van Persie would be an understatement – the Premier League leaders would be in mid-table without the prolific striker.

If the Dutchman was not in United’s ranks, Sir Alex Ferguson’s side would have won just five Premier League matches this campaign and earned only half of their 52-point tally.

Van Persie has scored a staggering 16 league goals for the table-toppers and even chipped in with six assists after having arrived for £22 million from Arsenal in the summer.

Thanks to the 29-year-old’s enormous contribution, United have won 17, drawn one and lost three matches for a win percentage of 81 – but take his personal efforts out of the equation, and it’s a very different story.

Without Van Persie, United would have 26 points on the board and be scrapping it out with West Ham and Norwich for a mid-table spot, while the club would already be out of the FA Cup, taking out his stoppage-time equaliser at Upton Park on Saturday.

Last season was the first injury-free campaign he has had since joining Arsenal for £2.75m in 2004, and Ferguson will be more desperate than ever that one of his key players remains fit for the entirety of the season. It clearly is quite crucial.

Interestingly, another man whose contribution dominates his side’s results to an alarming extent is contract rebel Theo Walcott.

Despite not starting a Premier League game between August 18 and November 10, Walcott has still scored eight times and set up six goals.

With his efforts, Arsenal have won nine, drawn seven and lost four games for a win rate of 45 per cent; without him Arsenal would have seen their win stats dip to a very poor 35 per cent.

£30 in the Stretford End. Shouldn't be that much of a differential either. It's just ripping off away fans
who told you that? ticket in w203 (my old block) without a membership for FA cup games this season is £42. As for ripping off away fans Utd fans in NW & NE quadrants of the ground will be pay considerably more than West Ham fans in that game....
