Paul Scholes: Liverpool are our big rivals.

Paul Scholes today claimed Manchester City will never replace Liverpool as Manchester United’s biggest rivals.

Liverpool have not won the league since 1990, while City are reigning champions, but Scholes said: “It’ll probably take years for City to create what Liverpool have done. Liverpool, historically, are our biggest rivals, they’re always the biggest games and the best atmospheres.”
Thinking about it, I wonder if this ongoing charm offensive towards Liverpool from united players and management is some concerted form of reverse psychology.

For years when united were Liverpool's inferior they had a great record against them. Equally our record since we got promoted in 2002 up to the takeover was solid.

If united players came out and dissed Liverpool (like they do us) maybe it would give them the kick up the backside they clearly need in this fixture. LFC's recent record in this fixture is wank - they have lost seven out of the last eight league games at old trafford.

Telling Liverpool this is still united's big fixture is clearly working.

Remove Hart from City's team and we'd be bottom of the league.
although with tweaking of your words....i d agree but what i ve noticed is if he makes the slightest of mistakes.....the pundits use words like clanger, howler as if he s costing us the season when in fact joe has been great.

i d say joe would be hard on himself.... but so far i m delighted with the squad.

They still have enough fire power to win them games if RvP gets injured. What is their major problem is the Defence.

United in "pole position" to sign Zaha according to Telegraph (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/9789050/Manchester-United-in-prime-position-to-land-12m-rated-Crystal-Palace-striker-Wilfried-Zaha.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... -Zaha.html</a>). They haven't stopped spending lately yet you hear nothing about them trying to 'buy success' when RVP for £24million is pretty much the epitome of that.

Little Richard rumours must be true then.

Re: Without RVP rags would be mid table

United lowest premier league finish is 3rd

If rvp were there ill say 2nd or 3rd possibly but we can still catch that scum and win the premier league

They wouldn't be mid table, but they certainly wouldn't be 7 points clear either. RVP has been their best player this season, and by some distance. I'd suggest without him City and United would be, at worst, on pretty much even terms at this point. RVP must have been worth at least 7 points to United so far this season.

Thought that Rooney was the difference in the derby, RVP did nowt for the entire game, until the free kick. Rooney was instrumental in them going 2-0 up and Van Persie was merely a bystander.
