UNITED have more fans in Manchester than City do, according to a poll by property website Rightmove.co.uk.

Despite claims to be the city’s “true” club, only 14.8 per cent of Mancunians polled say they follow City, compared to 55.6 per cent who support United.

It confirms Utd are the Premier League’s best-supported club.

The Reds are even the third best-backed team in LONDON, with 13.2 per cent of footie fans in the capital cheering them on.

But fans of Wayne Rooney’s Utd live on average 95 miles from Old Trafford. Only Liverpool fans (100 miles) and Newcastle's (97 miles) live further away.

The club with most fans living locally is Wigan (65 per cent), property site Rightmove found.

Rightmove's Miles Shipside said: “'Our study shows that when a Premiership club plays at home, that isn't always the case for its fans.

"As major clubs like Manchester United have grown their national - and even international - fan base, the overall proportion of their fans who live within the same postcode as their home stadium has decreased. The growing fan base of the bigger clubs can even be at the expense of their rivals.”

The poll was conducted by Rightmove - the world renowned sport pollsters. It also claims Wigan the the most local fans although it is full of rags, City and scouse fans.

Who cares anyway? United may have more "fans", but owning a shirt and occasionally watching Motd or even a full match at the pub now and again (hardcore red) means nothing. They have real supporters, we have real supporters, pretty much all teams do (FC Traitors of Manchester don't count).

I can't believe a serious newspaper like The Sun would waste time with such a pointless article.

Surely this means that 55.6% of Rightmove's customers in Manchester are scum fans,as this was probably polled online

Rag fans have noticed there's no atmosphere at the swamp and have decided to do something about it for the Fulham FA Cup game. Their solution to the knotty problem of rousing 70,000 day trippers? Bring a bar scarf and twirl it round and round above your head.

Henry Winter was all to happy to advertise this venture on his twitter earlier with this link - http://reclaimunited.co.uk/Reclaim_United/FA_CUP_DAY_26_1_13.html

Let’s make Fulham home next week a carnival FA Cup atmosphere. Instead of starting loads of threads about how dead it was and fulhams 126 fans outsung 75,000 let's have a laugh. None stop wembley songs.
She wore a scarlet ribbon and then We could all sing the whole 'in 77 it was docherty song"
Que sera sera - dead slow with twirling scarves
March with Fergie army
All dead slow
Bring bar scarves
And make some seventies bed sheet banners
RVP strikes more than scousers etc
We could even have a march from bishops singing the songs before kick off to get the atmosphere building
The organisers of Eric march are up for it.
Who's in and who's out ?

Manchester United acquires BskyB’s one-third stake in MUTV

LONDON: Manchester United today announced the acquisition of the one-third minority equity stake in Manchester United Television (‘MUTV’) from BskyB (Sky). MUTV is now a wholly-owned group subsidiary.

As part of its long-term digital media plans, Manchester United has made the strategic acquisition of Sky’s stake in MUTV in order to own 100% of the content production and distribution capabilities of this business.

MUTV was launched in 1998 as a three-way joint venture, with UK broadcasters ITV and Sky as equal partners. Since then, MUTV has developed considerable in-house expertise and Manchester United bought ITV’s one-third equity stake in November 2007. This latest acquisition is a natural progression and is indicative of the Club’s desire to have full control of the content generating and distribution capabilities across all of its businesses.

MUTV is available in 57 countries around the world. It is accessed in the UK and Ireland by subscription on satellite and cable platforms; and in the rest of the world through a combination of subscription or as programming blocks purchased by international broadcasters.

Richard Arnold, Commercial Director of Manchester United, said: “The acquisition of Sky’s stake is great news for all of our fans who watch us around the globe, MUTV, its staff and the Club.

“We look forward to continuing to enhance our media proposition and distribution capabilities in the years to come; and delivering some of the best and most compelling content to our 659m followers.

“Sky has been an active and highly-valued partner since the channel’s inception and has helped to build the best and most watched club football channel in the world. We will continue to have a close relationship with Sky in the future.”

MUTV employs approximately 60 staff and currently operates from offices in central Manchester, a studio at Carrington (the Club’s training ground) and from facilities within Old Trafford stadium.

"We will continue to have a close relationship with Sky in the future." - tell us something we don't fucking know.
