Was it the rock solid family mans' 1000th game for the Rags last night?
If so, what a fucking shame.

The afterparty was a tad muted as wio couldnt serve drinks cos his hands were bandaged for clapping the ref too hard.

Just bought this rare bbc annual for It's A Knockout, was my favorite show as a kid.

I work at the Airport and there are lots of red shirts getting off the train here and many more in the queue for the Aer Lingus/RyanAir flights.

"This ref struck me as a right fussy twat from the off, there were two particular moments, one where he made a song and dance about the wall being the correct distance away, and a second a particular moment where Evra kicked the ball a few yards away moments after conceding a free kick and our ref just HAD to make a point of telling him not to do that!

So yes, Nani is on the floor, and this ref sends everyone away, he probably knows he's going to show a red card, but fuck me, is he going to drag this out to make sure there is a real emphasis on him. I'll play it cool, but then when Nani gets up, BAM! They won't see this coming... Red Card, LOOK AT ME! LOOK WHAT I'VE DONE! What a massive bell-end.

But yeah, obviously changed the shape of the game and that was that. We were, to a man-magnificent, and deserved much much better." The tears XD

Is this thick twat really unaware that refs NEVER show a card to a player who's on the ground??

I've said in the past that there are plenty of good posters on Red Cafe but it's turning into the mother of all meltdowns over there at the moment. Amongst the many threads about last night, there's one about the ref following the likes of Ronaldo on Twitter. Not that I'm saying posters on this board aren't guilty of peddling all manner of conspiracy theories at times but as you say, they love to go on about this place and RAWK going into meltdown yet they're proving that they're just as guilty of it.

The thing is, if all the major decisions had gone against them last night then I could understand the outrage but it can be reasonably argued that more potential game-changing decisions went for them (wrongly disallowed Madrid goal and Rafael handball) than against them (Nani red card) so while I can understand them being pissed off about the sending off, it was in no way a one-sided refereeing display.

I've had more than my fair share of moans about refs down the years but once you've got it off your chest over a few post-match pints down the pub with your mates it soon gets forgotten and attention then turns to the match itself and what could've been done differently to help secure a result. United fans going into meltdown on Red Cafe about the referee should be spending as much time in questioning why Rooney was omitted from the starting line-up because that decision could end up leading to more long-term ramifications than them feeling hard done by a key refereeing decision, especially as 2 others went in their favour.

Manchester United fan calls 999 over Nani's red card

Nani is shown the red card Nani's dismissal surprised many observers - and enraged others

A football fan was so disgusted with the referee's decision to send off Nani in Tuesday's Champions League clash with Real Madrid he called 999.

The 18-year-old Manchester United supporter was watching at home in a village near Bingham, Nottinghamshire.

He felt the red card shown to the United winger was a crime so called police.

He later apologised for the call, saying he was caught up in the moment. Police will not take any action.
'Waste our time'

The fan, who has not been named, called police at about 21:20 GMT during United's second leg clash against the Spanish giants.

He was incensed by the referee's decision to show Nani the red card for a high challenge on Alvaro Arbeloa.

Ch Insp Ted Antill said: "While this recent example may be amusing, it illustrates the sort of insincere calls we have to deal with on a daily basis in the control room.

"They waste our time and they direct us away from genuine victims of crime, particularly if we dispatch officers out to something that turns out to be a bogus report."

He warned that prank 999 calls were a crime and said people had been prosecuted in the past.

"It's no joke. In this case, the man realised his bad judgement and apologised and we decided not to pursue it further," he added.

Nottinghamshire Police said it received 6,933 recorded hoax calls in 2012, which is about 2% of all reported incidents.

Had Tuesday's 999 caller followed Sir Alex Ferguson's example, he would have avoided a police telling off - the Manchester United manager was said afterwards to be "too distraught" to speak about the match.

The game turned after the dismissal of Portuguese winger Nani - whose real name is Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha - with Real Madrid scoring two quick goals to win the match 2-1, knocking United out of the competition 3-2 on aggregate.
