It would be fundamentally dishonest for most (if not all) City fans to suggest that our rivalry with united wasn't important to us

I can honestly say it isn't to me, I mean it. I do not think about Utd, unless we are playing them, then I want to stuff them, that's it. I do not see City through the prism of Utd, I do not think of them as rivals, I don't think about them at all, unless forced to.

I think a lot of City fans are like me, I couldn't tell you whether Utd won in any particular week or not, I take no interest in who they're playing, or how well they're playing, I don't watch their matches on TV, I can name a few Utd players but only the usual suspects. I don't care what they do, or when they do it, I notice them when they impact on City directly, the rest of the time I couldn't give a f**k.

They impact on City everytime they play a league game. That's how league football works, especially when you are 1st and 2nd for 2 seasons running.

Come on 'Slice Of Life' I congratulated the fuckers a few weeks ago and a couple said ...it aint over yet, that's how much we hurt them last year. How we clawed back 8 points and completely fucking dicked them with a script Hollywood couldn't write.

So? I don't care, we don't play Utd every week, we play whoever turns up. Mancini is very persistent on this point, and he's right, you win as many games as you can and the points tally up. We might be in a race with other teams for the title, but it is a race run in separate venues against different opponents at different times and days. I notice Utd's result if I'm at the ground while I'm having a pint at half time, and a cheer goes up if they are behind, other than that I don't care.
In football points means prizes. If I fighter goes down to a killer punch from his opponent, he loses, the victor wins. If you lose to Tottenham, Southampton and Everton and your points tally suffers, where's the killer punch from Utd? It doesn't exist, unless you live in the neurotic world of points counting and ring fencing games, where Utd might stumble and we can get easy points, but I leave that sorry chore to Wigan, Norwich, Stoke, and Aston Villa supporters down at the bottom, I've not played that game since Stuart Pearce.

I hope they never get over last year.

And I bet they never will. City aren't going away and will only get stronger and stronger and they know that fact. Which I'm sure is not giving them sleep! They win the league - so what, who cares? We may win the FA cup and finish 2nd behind them, and next season we'll be back stronger than ever. It will be a long, long summer for them!

I've clearly upset the hard core, all I've said is I'm not obsessed with United, I don't think about them and I believe the sooner we stop thinking in "us and them" terms the better it will be for City.

Well, here I am, I didn't think I'd be relegated to leper status because I don't eat, sleep and drink Utd, but there you go, seems there is only one orthodoxy.
