Rumour of the day for the Rags is that Moyes is going there as assistant manager for a year, in readiness to take over from Taggart.

Its been banded about for a couple of days this rumour
Moyes has been backed of the boards to be their next gaffer
Odds on fav with most bookies..

You've gone and made the school boy error of completely ignoring football inflation (which is far greater than society/banking inflation) over that time, which automatically makes those figures utterly useless.

Plus you have ignored the fact that United's spending towards building a title winning side in 1992-93 actually started in the early eighties. Even before the Premier League (or Premiership as it was then) started United had built the most expensie football team ever assembled in English football history, at the time.
