Anyone understand why Ferguson played a weakened team against Chelsea?

He had a chance to dent their chances of the top 4. He could have struck a blow against one of his chief rivals but didn't take it. If he wanted to give fringe players a game, then do so in the other 2 games.

Chelsea will be significantly stronger next season just by appointing a permanent manager (unless they make a catastrophic mistake in that appointment) and if they sign a good centre-forward then they will instantly be title contenders.

The only thing that could stop them is if they were outside the Champions League places which would affect their chances of signing a Falcao type centre-forward.

In hindsight, the defeat of Man Utd was actually very bad news for Utd and City for next season.
As I said before in the Spurs thread when we were talking about the run-in, United's players just didn't care. He didn't play a shit team, not his strongest but not the reserves either. RVP was wasteful and pretty ineffective. Their midfield was non-existent and their defence was sloppy. It was quite bad that we took so long to break them really but we're suffering from our own problems (like fatigue). Their players just couldn't get motivated knowing that this match had no bearing on their season whatsoever.

• Chelsea £842m - 3 titles
• Man City £704m - 1 title
• L'pool £602m - 0 title
• United £532m- 13 titles
You've gone and made the school boy error of completely ignoring football inflation (which is far greater than society/banking inflation) over that time, which automatically makes those figures utterly useless.

Plus you have ignored the fact that United's spending towards building a title winning side in 1992-93 actually started in the early eighties. Even before the Premier League (or Premiership as it was then) started United had built the most expensie football team ever assembled in English football history, at the time.

Boom...well stated caveman, they always seem to think that they have never actually bought a title and that they have generated titles from a never ending list of home grown players.

Earned by selling food to kids that could kill them! Louis was a half genocidal maniac and committed suicide when he was rumbled over it.

his company supplied condemned meat that was unfit for human consumption to be used in Manchester school dinners.

Edwards had a secret fund for bribing parents of young players the club wished to recruit.

Just heard Rafa say on SSN about the Luiz situation something to the effect of not being happy how everyone is talking about Luiz instead of the fact that Chelsea have beaten Manure three times this season. ( woulda been 4 had it not been for Clattenburg ) I don't want him to leave English football hes' got the beating of the Rags and knows exactly what the spineless UK media get up to.

It doesn't matter what he says even when he's bang on. The rag loving media will always spin it as though he's lost the plot or Fergies mind games are working.
Rafa has had bacon face sussed from day 1 and has never been afraid to tell the truth. That's why bacon face hates him so much and why the press give Rafa such a bad time.

Those of us of sound mind and there are more than they'd have you believe know what's what, it's just great hearing someone stand up to the horrible old bully, and I doubt he gives a toss how the media portray him. He's got more about him than Moyes, Fat Sam, Curbishley and all the other Rag arselickers combined!
