From Red Cafe:

"When was Wenger criticized at all?

When Fergie went two-three years without a title, the media was full of he's losing his touch etc but Wenger hasn't even got close to a league title in ages and yet he gets praised for his prudence and style of football."

"He hasn't yet faced the criticism that the likes of Fergie faced when he was going through a barren spell."

How can someone be this deluded? Complaining about the criticism Fergie gets from the media

Most criticism came from their own fans during that period which sums them up. Arsenal fans have been a hell of a lot more patient with Wenger.

Manchester United shares dropped nearly 5 per cent in the first 10 minutes of trading on the New York Stock Exchange when it opened at 2.30pm this afternoon.
Shares were down 4.7 per cent to $17.88 after the news – which came overnight in America – that Sir Alex Ferguson was stepping down as manager of United after more than 26 years at Old Trafford.
The 71-year-old only told his players at the Carrington training ground this morning, five hours before trading in America was to begin.

This is from the daily mail website.

Tick Tock.

The players were immediately onto their stockbrokers and got rid of their shares the minute the stock market opened. A formal investigation has begun into insider dealing. (If only)

The future for them could be interesting. I strongly suspect that the Glazers will be reining in spending while keeping revenue as high as possible. This is what Baconface going is all about and the Roonety transfer request may have some connection to that.

Effectively they're going to become the new Arsenal, where just being there or thereabouts is considered perfectly acceptable as long as they're in the CL and the commercial income is pouring in. Maybe the Glazers have looked at Liverpool/FSG and seen that even the lack of European exposure hasn't really impacted them that badly commercially.

Interesting if this happens as they will struggle to be competitive at the very top of the table with us and Chelsea being more willing to spend

This is how I see it, this is why they see Moyes as a good fit.

Except 'Red Issue' have pulled the new publication due out on sunday due to 'latest developments'

Quote "this is far from over" "Last thing we need is developments" "the mags been re written over and over, but we go where the story goes"... Moyes rejected it? Surely not?

edit: seems they were trying to fleece £10 out of the gullible ...so they could get into 'the sanctuary' (members forum)... RI pretending they knew something different! shocking but not surprised.

This is my hope but on the other side of the coin they know they have to still be successful to keep their stature up there with Barca, Real, Bayern etc.

I think they will still spend, they will still be competitive. I just don't see them whacking £40m+ for a player anymore (with inflation they've paid this, before anyone chimes that they've paid <£35m as their transfer record, Rio is a prime example).

Forget our league, they are there and abouts with us and Chelsea squad-wise. The problem for them is Europe as the elite all have much better first elevens and options. Bar RVP and maybe Rooney I doubt any of their players would get into elite first teams. To close that gap they need to spend. Now when you think a top players costing £30m+ then the days of cheap buys are gone. They will have to pay the fair price and if they don't they will be passed along the way and will have to look in from the outside.

I am split on thinking whether they will tighten up or continue as is. The answer will soon reveal itself.
