They wouldn't be mid table, but they certainly wouldn't be 7 points clear either. RVP has been their best player this season, and by some distance. I'd suggest without him City and United would be, at worst, on pretty much even terms at this point. RVP must have been worth at least 7 points to United so far this season.

Thought that Rooney was the difference in the derby, RVP did nowt for the entire game, until the free kick. Rooney was instrumental in them going 2-0 up and Van Persie was merely a bystander.

He was far from a bystander that day. Held the ball up brilliantly and brought others into play. Chested the ball for Young in the build up for the first goal and also hit the bar with a brilliant effort which should have resulted in a 3rd goal (Young's rebound was incorrectly ruled out for offside)

Here's a clip of his performance if you don't believe me.

Re: Without RVP rags would be mid table

I imagine if he wasn't there someone else would have stepped up. They mightn't be 7 points clear but midtable? I doubt it. Unfortunately with them, if it's not one rag putting their hand up, it's another.

United sending more players to try to bail Ferguson's misogynistic son out at Peterborough.

May be a short stay if Baby Bacon gets the boot:-

==========================================================
Sir Alex Ferguson is sending striker Davide Petrucci and defender Scott Wootton to Peterborough United to help out his son.

Darren Ferguson needs reinforcements to help his side's battle to stay in the Championship and so Ferguson Sr has jumped to his rescue by agreeing loan deals for two of Manchester United's top talents.

Wootton, 21, is primarily a centre back who can also fill in at left-back. He played for Liverpool's youth team between the ages of 13 and 16, before switching to United in 2007.

He previously made 11 appearances for Peterborough during the first half of the 2011-2012 season, and has also had temporary spells at Tranmere Rovers and Nottingham Forest.

Wootton has made four first-team appearances at Old Trafford this season - in the Capital One Cup matches against Newcastle United and Chelsea, and the two Champions League group stage games with Cluj.

Wootton was also wanted by Bristol City, Birmingham and Blackburn, according to reports. He is also reportedly in talks over a new two-year contract at United.

Italian-born Petrucci, 21, was acquired from Roma in July 2008 but the midfielder saw his first-team breakthrough delayed by a succession of injuries.

He is currently the captain of United's reserves and would gain from first team experience at Peterborough as he pushes for a senior debut at old Trafford next season.

Currently, he is best known for being punched by Nani in a bust-up at United's Carrington training ground.

Meanwhile, young United winger Robbie Brady has joined Hull City.
