The simple fact is that teams are no longer coming to the swamp and fearing the worst. They all fancy their chances now against the Satan-worshippers.
Thanks for clearing that up.Stretford Ender said:A member of parliament ! Need to inject a bit more fire power up front.
This just shows the lack of class and professionalism that Moyes has. A manager should not be briefing journalist information like that and either should the club. It should all be kept in house. I know enough people who either are still in the game or used to be, to know that the stories leaked to the press are never the whole truth. The people friendly with the journalist get to release what they want.Prestwich_Blue said:Let me tell you about this squad that is as good as any in the PL. It's obvious the change of management hasn't gone down well with the experience players ,and it's looks like most of them will be off ski sooner than expected , but I,m sure they will purchase suitable replacements ,they have done in the past,so I can't see why that should change.
Obviously Anderson was one, along with Valencia, Young & Nani. At the back Smalling and Jones were considered too limited and hadn't developed sufficiently. Moyes and Ferdinand don't speak after Rio lost his rag with Moyes, who told him he should aspire to be Phil Jagielka. Camelgob reeled off what he'd won and said to Moyes "Now - what the fuck have you & Phil Jagielka won?" In addition, Cleverley has been given another season to prove himself or he's out the door as well.
Of the new players Zaha simply didn't train well enough so they fucked him off and then there's Fellaini. When they train, they have two 'keep ball' circles with the technically better players in one and the others in the second. Fellaini apparently can't even reach the standard of the latter circle he is so poor technically. And that's what they paid £27.5m for (which is more than we paid for Silva, Nasri or Yaya). Evra would like to stay but there's no word one way or the other from the club.
So this squad now seems to consist of Rafael, Evans, Buttner, possibly Evra, Varela (who hasn't played), Carrick, Fletcher, Fellaini, Cleverley (who's on a last chance), Kagawa, Mata, Rooney, Januzaj, Welbeck, Hernadez and RVP.
And of those, Kagawa, Hernandez and van Persie are very unhappy, particularly the latter. That's your squad of "champions".
Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion this is just barking.Stretford Ender said:None the less the same squad are current champions, only Anderson has left as yet. Most of them would get into City's squad, some of them in the City's first eleven ARGUABLY depending ,RVP ,Rooney,Evans ,Jones,Nani ( on form) De Gea,Kagawa,Fellani,Mata ,Evra even Smalling Welbeck and Carrick.
Excellent answer my only slight disagreement is regarding Navas and Fernadinho, havnt seen enough of them ,but it can't see them being that much better than Carrick in midfield or the 3 wide Utd players ,but overall I wasn't that far out.Good answer though.Matty said:Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion this is just barking.Stretford Ender said:None the less the same squad are current champions, only Anderson has left as yet.
Look at each position individually.
Goalkeeper - There's very little to chose between Hart and De Gea, they'd both make a 25 man Premier League squad for a "Manchester Football Club", who started would be a coin toss. As 3rd choice keeper I'd take Pantilimon over Lindegaard.
Right Back - Zabaleta is the best right back in either squad, he's probably challenging Ivanovic for the best right back in the Premier League. Rafael would be a backup as we do lack quality depth at right back.
Left Back - A few years ago you'd have picked Evra, but he'll be 33 at the end of the season and isn't even close to being the player he was. City have 2 left back options, I'd have them both as the top 2 options here.
Centre Half - Kompany is a mile clear of anythign on offer here, there's not even a point discussing that. Alongside him it's a more open field, we've got Nastasic, Lescott and Demichelis, United have Smalling, Jones, Vidic, Evans and Ferdinand. Straight off the bat I'm ignoring Ferdinand, Demichelis, Lescott and Smalling, all 4 have issues, either age, quality, or both. I'd probably play Vidic alongside Kompany, with Nastasic and Jones as backup.
Midfield (defensive) - United's midfield is their weakest area, defensively you can't look past both Yaya Toure and Fernandinho as being a distance better than the other options.
Midfield (offensive) - Silva is the best option here, again without doubt. Nasri and Mata would be the next in line.
Midfield (wide) - United have more options here, as they play with a lot more width (hence the 81 crosses against Fulham) however Navas is probably the best option in either squad. Valencia has one move, Nani is inconsistent, Young just isn't very good. Januszaj might fit in here, but he's still young and needs to prove he can do it consistently. Milner is a solid, if unspectacular option, and is better defensively than the others.
Forward - United's one really area of quality with both Rooney and RVP, however it's City's strongest area too. For me Aguero is the best striker in either squad, and I'd probably partner him with Rooney. RVP and Negredo would be the other options.
So, in a 25 man squad, I'd have the following
Goalkeepers - Joe Hart, David De Gea, Costel Pantilimon
Defenders - Aleksandar Kolarov, Gael Clichy, Vincent Kompany, Nemanja Vidic, Pablo Zabaleta, Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Matja Nastasic, Rafael.
Midfield - Yaya Toure, Fernandinho, David Silva, Juan Mata, Samir Nasri, Jesus Navas, James Milner, Nani, Michael Carrick.
Forward - Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie, Alvaro Negredo.
Strongest lineup
GK - Hart/De Gea
RB - Zabaleta
CB - Kompany
CB - Vidic
LB - Kolarov
MD - Fernandinho
MD - Toure
MD - Silva
MD - Mata
ST - Aguero
ST - Rooney
Subs - Hart/De Gea, Clichy, Jones, Milner, Nasri, Van Persie, Negredo
So, as you can see, 3 (maybe 4) of the starting 11, and 5 of the strongest 18 match day squad, and 9 of the 25 man squad would be United players. It's also worth noting that some of those United players aded to the squad are debatable. You could argue for Lescott over Evans or Jovetic over Nani.
Navas is definitely better than Young, Valencia and Nani, he's quicker than all 3 of them, and his delivery is good too. He creates a host of chances for his colleagues and is a lareg part of why we've scored so many goals this season. As for Fernandinho and Carrick, different types of player to be honest, but Fernandinho is a better defensive option, his movement, ability pick out the danger man early and workrate are excellent, he's not got the long passing that Carrick has (but we don't really play too many long passes anyway) but he's better moving with the ball, in terms of beating a man and his short passing is very accurate. The fact we're really missing him at the moment is testimony to how good he is.Stretford Ender said:Excellent answer my only slight disagreement is regarding Navas and Fernadinho, havnt seen enough of them ,but it can't see them being that much better than Carrick in midfield or the 3 wide Utd players ,but overall I wasn't that far out.Good answer though.Matty said:Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion this is just barking.Stretford Ender said:None the less the same squad are current champions, only Anderson has left as yet.

Fair enough I,ll take your word on those ,I ain't seen enough of them.Just on the wingers it's not their fault the chances they create are not leading to goals ,Valancia would be a threat if he played for City.Matty said:Navas is definitely better than Young, Valencia and Nani, he's quicker than all 3 of them, and his delivery is good too. That's not the way things work though in practice. For years, politicians have leaked stuff and briefed journalists to ensure various outcomes, be that trailing policy announcements, talking themselves up or sticking the knife in their enemies.supercrystal7 said:This just shows the lack of class and professionalism that Moyes has.
