United Buying Success Under Moyes

Remember, we've always been told that United don't buy success, they nurture success through their training academy. ;-)

Let's see if Davy keeps this tradition going under his tenure.

To date.

Marouane Fellaini - £27mill
Juan Mata - £37mill

The next player off the United training academy production line?

Manchester United William Carvalho deal: Fee of £37million agreed - move to take place after World Cup

Tuesday night won't be the walkover people think it will be. I just hope the players go into it with a do or die attitude and don't take Uniteds position the sane as they did against Wigan, Villa, Cardiff, we need to finish it before half time and don't let even look as though thy have a chance. Play to our full potential and we should win easily but is a derby and ask any scum fan about the many times we turned them over when we were underdogs.

Seriously, I thought that. He panicked. Should never take your eye off the ball.
That's why he lost his bearings.<br /><br />-- Sun Mar 23, 2014 1:56 pm --<br /><br />

As I said in another thread. We had fight. They don't have it in 'em. They've never needed it recently.

i thought the same he was miles the other side of the goal.

he was, terrible keeping, full marks to the granny shagger though for spotting that.

Yeah good spot from him but if the keeper just runs backwards instead of turning his back he'd have kept the flight of the ball and caught/parried it.

A lot of better attempts from that far out by other players.

Credit to the granny shagger for taking his chance. It was a very good goal, even if the media are a bit too giddy about it.
Think on though... As nauseating as the circle jerking over it in the Press Box is today, thank fuck it's today we're waking up to it and not next Wednesday morning.

So far their season has been one of boom and bust. Right now, we're at the crescendo of a boom. I feel a bust coming on (ooh matron!).
Cc'mon City! Let's have this lot.

MOTD say 54 yards, who to believe..

MOTD definitely. Famously, the pitch at Upton Pk is actually 124 yds long and their statistic would agree with that.

I thought all PL pitches had to be a standard size now, 105m long = 114 yds. So the far edge of the centre circle would be around 47 yards out from goal.

True
However some clubs in the prem have special dispensation because they can't meet the rule.
West Ham are one such club
Their pitch is smaller at 100.56 metres long!

It's all in the prem handbook here

So, as united clearly won't be playing CL football next season, he'll be branded a mercenary by united fans as robinho, tevez etc we're when we weren't in champions league?

However, if not true... :

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.givemesport.com/445763-manchester-city-still-chasing-united-target-william-carvalho?autoplay=on" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.givemesport.com/445763-manch ... utoplay=on</a>

Manchester City are set to join local rivals Manchester United in the race to sign William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon, reports Goal.

Reports emerged on Sunday morning that Manchester United had agreed to meet the 21-year-old's £37m release clause and would sign him before the World Cup gets underway on June 12. Carvalho was set to become the first of a number of major additions to arrive at Old Trafford this summer.

However, no firm agreement is in place and Manchester City are set to offer Carvalho an alternative to working under David Moyes. Unlike at Old Trafford, the Etihad is likely to play host to Champions League football next season and a more realistic chance of silverware as well.

Manuel Pellegrini is an admirer of the defensive midfielder and has dispatched scouts to watch him play in Portugal several times this month. They know United already hold an advanced interest in the player, but Manchester City have now registered their own interest with Sporting Lisbon.

City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain has been told by the Portuguese outfit that they are willing to accept a fee of £32.5m for the player, which goes against reports that Manchester United will pay the full £37m.

The extra money won't worry David Moyes, however, who has reportedly been given as much as £180m to spend on reinforcements this summer. With City struggling to fall in line with Uefa's financial fair play laws, they may not be able to compete with Manchester Untied on a financial front this summer.

Before moving for Carvalho, Pellegrini will focus on his main transfer targets Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando. While Pellegrini would love to add Carvalho to his line-up the Citizens remain well stocked in midfield while the defence remains fragile.

£180 million?

First it was £300 million, then £200 million, now it's £180 million.

At this rate, by the time the transfer window opens, he'll have enough money for a youth product from Accrington!

shrek has been sharing his pearls of wisdom , he is "really looking forward" to the derby , a couple of wins against a greek side which would struggle in the championship and a flukey win against west ham , the same team we put nine goals past , and this has kicked started their season , shame there is only 8 games left.

Does Noel come on here then?

We Love Man City FC
Noel Gallagher: "Juan Mata is to David Moyes, what a smartphone is to my Grandad"

United's tickets for the derby are on open sale.
