Bayern were shit last night, hopefully they'll be better in the 2nd leg.
I find myself saying it a lot but he is very good for England. He ll=ooks a much better player in Woy's set up than he does pandering to wooney and rapemanadrianr said:oldhamblue said:nijinsky's fetlocks said:Maybe in the grown up world it is actually possible to discuss the relative merits and faults of players objectively, even if they are rags.
Of course it's possible. In my opinion he is not an out and out striker. He has pace, fast feet, and good close control. However doesn't seem to possess the clinical instinct of a top top striker. And at the age of 24 I can't see him progressing much more
He is an out and out striker just not a very good one. His level is back at Sunderland, that's all. He seems like a good lad, and he'll run and run (fast) which will always endear him to the British crowd, but top level footballer he ain't, and England nor the rags (unless they're insistent on staying in 7th for the forseeable) should have him anywhere near the first team.

However whilst it's 'politically' acceptable to play against Bayern that way it's not against us because that would be an admission of our superiority. And therein lies Moyes problem, he's better managing the underdogs, defending deep and sneaking a win. That style of play is not acceptable at the Swamp. Wow! - Hawkesby and Jacobs have just said the same thing as I type. Great minds?[/quote]
So how do we know you are not either Hawkesby or Jacobs eh ? and you know what we think of them. I think we should be told.
Bob on that, i turned over at half time.eversince 76 said:Don't like to say it, but United deserved a draw having the better chances. Bayern were onesided, dull and just on the pitch to have posession of the ball. Playing 4 or 5 times more passes than United and created half the chances United got. Exactly playing the way Barca did the last year under Pep and boring the hell out of me with their endless tiki-taki. I.e.: boring.Hope they do one to United in Munich. We won and Arsenal drew, so United - even if they are not in our league - are by no means without a chance.

Ok, I'll bite - just how were the rags 'lucky'?
The one clear cut chance in the game fell to them.
Bayern were way below par, and created precious little, despite overwhelming early possession.
From a purely objective viewpoint, I thought the result was pretty fair myself.

26% possession, the lowest recorded by a home side ever in the Champions League.
That stat alone tells you how fortunate they were..... Don't you think?
