Rio Ferdinand was interviewed by Lineker on Friday night and he said that RVP felt unloved by Moyes

Clearly a lot of dressing room division at Utd with Rooney at the centre of it

What are they going to do with Rooney? Sell him? Is he saleable? Already clear RVP will start up front but he could in theory play in behind

That's where Mata should play. If I were United I'd be looking to offload Rooney.

Deffo he is past his sell by date now. That miss last night was like Mike Tyson making a come-back and being sparked the fook out in the first 10 seconds. Anyone else in the team (apart from Glen Johnson) would've buried that.

After watching the Holland Spain game there is obviously a favourable relationship between RVP and their new manager, It will be interesting to see who is top dog at the rags this season and my betting is it won't be rughead.

Seems a bit of ill-will amongst Utd camp towards Rooney eg Scholes. His comments criticising Rooney as being past it were incredible. Imagine an ex-City legend saying that about a current City player who was under-pressure going into a tournament. All is not well at Utd.

However a good start under Van Gaal and Rooney maybe happy to knuckle down and play 2nd fiddle to RVP, but a bad start and the problems could get worse.

If someone comes along in the Summer and offers £20m plus, I think they'd take it. But his star is dipping fast.

Can't see him taking a huge paycut to leave. Keep him there as agent provocateur to keep us entertained.

Said it before, but as much I dislike Ferguson he played a blinder with the Rooney situation in the summer. He took all the blame from the situation and gave Moyes an easy excuse to sell him last summer and take none of the blame. Instead Moyes decided to upset the much better player RVP and reward Rooney with a huge contract.

Rooney though is still one of the biggest players in the world. He is incredibly overrated still and would have been able to be sold abroad, but with the new bumper contract that's not going to happen. He is not going to take a paycut and may be forced to be a bench warmer. Gaal has always liked to give youth a chance so would not be surprised if Rooney spends a lot of time on the bench.

When you're giving Rooney 300k a week, it's incredibly difficult too then get rid, hardly any team could afford him.
That supposed £300k a week includes quite a lot from his share of commercial deals that the rags do. Basically, if they do a deal with someone, he gets a slice of it (if his advisers think it it's suitable) and gets involved in the publicity. I'm not sure how that would play if he went somewhere else.

Anyone know what people abroad think of rooney? Do they rate him?
Much higher than we rate him here. The average football fan is not going to watch much foreign football. They are going to go to their teams home matches and then watch the big matches in the league. After that they rely on hype. Rooney has a lot of hype and to be fair has won a lot.
