United's bid was reportedly £16m for Fellaini - a fortnight after the Belgian's £23.5m buy-out clause expired
Everton have angrily rejected a joint bid by Manchester United for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, reports from Merseyside say.
The Liverpool Echo reports that Everton chiefs were left incensed after the Reds bid £16m for the Belgian international - two weeks after his £23.5m buy-out clause in his contract expired.
And they were said to be further angered when United tried to include Leighton Baines in the deal for a further £12m.
The report said that the joint offer - made by United chief executive Ed Woodward only 48 hours before the start of the new Premier League season - left 'considerable bad feeling' on Merseyside, particularly given that the Fellaini bid fell far short of the £23.5m buy-out clause.
