Our net spend over the past five years is just £2m more a season than Stoke City's and £3m more a season than Aston Villa's. Moyes is happy to work within these parameters, but one of Europe’s finest won’t be

As lots said when they sold tranny, you can't sell the family silver every year and the last piece they have, shrek, will have no value in twelve months unless he's signed a new deal.
When you take account of their squad, everyone can see they've under invested for a number of years.

As for the £200m!! That's put every player they are interested in up in price by a minimum of£10m
No wonder there isn't any value in the market

It is a footballing truth universally acknowledged that a football club in possession of a large fortune must be in want of an agent to help them spend it.

Make no mistake, it the rags war chest was full to bursting and they had a desperate itch to start spending, agents would be all over them like a rash, and the noises about which player has always had a yearning to
play for them would be in the media already. Instead, what do we hear?

Nothing, nix niente, nada.

They are a busted flush.

If they spend it all in one go or spread it over a couple of transfer windows I can't see how they can come close to meeting FFP. Even accounting for the huge amount of cash that club generates and even discounting the repayments on their not inconsiderable debt, I would imagine the maximum they could spend each season is £90-£100 million net. However, the Glazers have never sanctioned anything like that kind of spending when Ferguson was manager so why anyone would think they'd give Moyes twice that is beyond me. Plus, as you say, surely those United fans that have slated City's spending would be dead against spending such vast sums of money. Wouldn't they????

Cannot see that happening tbh, as someone said earlier their net spend over the last 5 years is very similar to Stoke/Villa.
bollocks it is, didn't see either of those clubs spend 70m in transfers with a 140m wage bill in 2011

Spread over 5 years, just quoting what an earlier poster said.

Bacon face is a C*** but he's no mug, he knew the writing was on the wall and he knew spongebob would fail, there is no money in the coffers, shrek is virtually worthless already & VP will be off soon. 2014 looking up already!!

Well now that everyone knows about the £200 mill warchest hopefully they'll put a bid in for Baines and if theyre lucky will only have to pay £45 million..

shoulda kept their gobs shut!!

I'm left wondering did Ferguson actually intend all this ?

If they miss out on CL its clear they are in trouble financially, it must be one of the worst years to miss out.

It would make sense to overpay fee's and wages this month to ensure they make 4th, but if they fail to attract players this month, and subsequently fail to finish 4th, their best players will want to leave in the summer, and further trouble will follow.

However you look at it, he's the one to blame for much of the mess, he took his eye off the bigger picture 2 years ago, and his recommendation of a corner shop manager has made matters worse, I wonder how long it will take the die hard rags to come to this conclusion ?

Before I answer this, as it's an interesting question: intend it why?
