united in the Europa League will be somewhat reminiscent of our one season sojourn in the third tier of English Football.

Away games at anonymous locations in crumbling stadiums, full of curious locals who haven't seen their local team in the flesh for many a moon. On the pitch, journeymen pros all of a sudden find a few extra gears to their game in the knowledge that, as far as their pedestrian careers are concerned, this is very much their Cup Final.

Let's hope united can put the afterburners on and finish sixth as it'll make fantastic viewing.

Good post......but remember if we win the League Cup then United only need to be in the top seven to qualify for the Europa League, even Moyesy should be able to manage that.

Just had a thought, you don’t suppose they will try and buy themselves out of this shit storm mess do you as that would never do as they are a club with ethics, well that’s what they have preached to us in the past, media included. Just loving this situ Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

Thursday Sunday Thursday Sunday Trips to the middle of nowhere in November December this just gets better and better.look at Swansea now? Newcastle last year? Oh how the mighty are going to fall!!!!

What was funny is them bemoaning lady luck and previously having a pop at refs (we are laughing at them) yet did they not beat Palace only by conning a penalty and getting the player sent off at 0-0 via another Young Dive. How did Rooney escape from his assault the other week only to somehow not get a red then went on to score the goal. They moan about Vidics red (even appealed it) but fail to see Rafael should have walked for the disgusting lunge but got away with it. Last night Mason bottled it by not sending of Smalling also.

They simply failed to beat Sunderland over 2 legs, with Sunderland looking the better footballing team and even had their buddy Mason in charge to help out (how many corners were given as goal kicks and throw ins given wrong way) and still could not get through

Bit harsh. Parachute Mata into the team yesterday and they'd still finish outside the top 4 sure, but if they get Rooney and RVP back for a sustained period their competition for the place isn't that great. Even if he still continues to have absolutely no idea what he's doing, fielding enough good players in a loose formation will overrun a lot of teams in the league. Liverpool and Spurs should be in the stronger position, Liverpool especially IMO. There should be serious questions asked of Rodgers if he can't get them 4th place from here.
The problem with Liverpool is that they've been playing out of their skin, and yet they're still only just scraping into the 4th place spot. I still think the rags will do it, unfortunately. Everton used to finish strongly, and I expect Moyes to do the same thing with them.

Top 6 not top 7. The only way 7th place gets a Europa League spot is if both the winner, and runner up, of the FA Cup are already qualified for Europe via another method.

The Europa League will suddenly become as important as the CL according to the media, until they get battered off FC Wankmeoff from the Lituhanian pub league.
