Not remotely worried about the Mata signing. Wee Davey will manage to make a sows ear out of a silk purse, no problem.

They may get 4th. To be honest they might have done so anyway. They have been shit for 2 seasons now and only managed to scrape wins last season because they had van rapist rescue them for half their games. When they get him and Rooney back, no doubt results will pick up a bit, and no doubt Liverpool and Spurs will drop away as usual.

Their much bigger problems are:

  • Their defence is dreadful - Wio is past it and Vidic will be off. And he's shit now anyway. The rest are mid-table quality or worse.
  • I am not even going to comment on their midfield players. That they thought Fellaini would massively improve them says it all.
  • Can they keep Rooney and van rapist? Without having to pay them £300,000 a week? No.
Best of all:

  • David Moyes. So long as this cretin is in charge, they will never be serious contenders. He's like their own Clueless, from the same generation of inept British managers as our very own Mark Hughes. Great at getting a piss-poor side to punch above their weight for a bit. No fucking idea at how to manage a big club or win anything. Long may they be stuck with him.

Wenger moaning again about the system saying its "unfair" as Chelsea already played Utd twice. Does he ever stop moaning

Drunken United fan calls 999 and demands to speak to Fergie after cup defeat

Greater Manchester Police said the distressed supporter demanded to speak to former Reds' boss Sir Alex to discuss the result just after the match finished

A drunk Manchester United fan dialled 999 and demanded to speak to Sir Alex Ferguson after the Reds' defeat last night.

Police received the bizarre and amusing call at 10.30pm on Wednesday from a man in Crumpsall, north Manchester.

Moments earlier, United were dumped out of the league cup in dramatic fashion by Sunderland, who won 2-1 on penalties after extra time.

The distressed supporter demanded to speak to former Reds' boss Sir Alex to discuss the result.

Greater Manchester Police released a statement on their GMP Manchester North Facebook page on Thursday morning which read: “Last night, at approximately 10.30pm a man from the Crumpsall area of north Manchester rang 999 in a drunken state demanding to speak to Sir Alex Ferguson about last night’s result.

“Obviously, it can be a sad and depressing moment when you’re football team loses a game, however can we all please remember that 999 is to be used for emergencies only.

“For any other police related enquiries that are not an emergency, you can ring 101.

"If you would like to speak to Sir Alex about recent football results we here at GMP Manchester North can only suggest you try ringing Manchester United FC directly as you will probably (not definitely) have a much better chance of getting through to him there rather than ringing the police."

He's has a point, to a degree, as Mata will strengthen United against Chelsea's rivals, but not against Chelsea. Quite how that's any different to loaning Lukaku to Everton though I've no idea, and he's not whinged about that.

Picture this - you're in charge of the club.
Your highly respected manager has decided to move on.
You've got a half decent squad, but like all chairmen, you want to push on to the next level if possible.
As the end of the 2012/13 season approaches and you know that change is imminent, who do you go to?
Who's got that something special?
Who might just be available?
Well, all I can say is, well done Bill Kenwright for appointing the highly talented, personable and polished Roberto Martinez.
And, of course, well done the Glazers and United - the gift that just keeps on giving.
Did I mention how much I'm loving 2014?
Just need to mention the style with which the new Duncan Edwards aka Phil 'The Face' Jones took his penalty last night. Exquisite!

Typical of the media to withhold Moyes' name...

How many times do they have to say that a fan dialled 999 and demanded to speak to fergie in one article?
